Re: Stuart Scott

The trail he blazed wasn't as much about ushering in black guys at the anchor desk, it was about making the highlights almost a performance. In other words, he pushed the the envelop on making the broadcast more about the anchor than about the sports being covered. So, that's about as far as I can g...

It's always a weird Catch 22 on that... I mean, you almost want them just to stick to a plausible, yet highly suspect, explanation where they don't come out and admit incompetence.

Re: Comedy...stand-up and otherwise...

Louie Anderson is a pretty good "clean" comic. I wholeheartedly agree on Regan... that's who popped into my head first. I took my kids to see him last year and it was cool to see the mix of adults and kids in the crowd. One way to find lots of clean comics is to look at Regan's tour schedu...

Luck is high on my list. There was an article out his year that noted that he is really complimentary of everyone on the field, including guys that just sacked him... telling them it was a good hit and weird shit like that. He's either a genuinely nice guy, or he's an evil genius. Either way, LIKABLE.

I'm in the camp of not having really liked Stu's schtick, at one time really actively disliking him, but I've mellowed since. I thought his catch phrases were cheesy and forced, but under it all I do think that he was a talented presenter. I can appreciate him more in retrospect, seeing how narrati...

Harbaugh supposedly recruits like an mf-er though. One of the reasons the turn around at Stanford bodes well for Michigan is the fact that he started from a place of ZERO 4 and 5 stars and by the time he left the program was pulling in around 6 or 7 four stars and the year after he left even landed...

As was mentioned over in the Harbaugh thread, I think people tend to forget or discount how many hours and how incredibly stressful it is to be an NFL head coach.

When you think about it, Michigan does not really have a well-defined geographic center. Not if you include the UP. But I don't know any Michiganders who would do that. The UP is its own empire.
