I think everyone should carry knives so if someone comes up to you with a knife you can use your knife to kill their knife and no one else will die and you'll be a hero.

Re: The 2013 MLB thread - March/April edition
Are people saying the ump didn't decide to call a strike until Zobrist made a move, or that he didn't make it uber-demonstrative until Zobrist made a move? Incompetent or dick? I think logic says incompetent, Foster's history says maybe a mix. Basically the anti-Joyce, where he got every benefit of...

Re: The 2013 MLB thread - March/April edition
It would be different if it weren't a confrontational douche of an ump. Many people on twitter, the super-amazing Keith Law among them, noted that he didn't ring Zobrist up until Zobrist had already made a move towards 1B. (Also, this is the guy who told Jeter he didn't need to be tagged on a CS if ...

Re: "Accidental Racist" ... a real song
I don't think they're trying to equate gold chains & saggy pants with black on white oppression. They're just going with the stereotypes. White guy in rebel flag shirt = racist vs. black guy in baggies and chains = gangbanger. Both are saying I won't judge your book by it's cover if you won't j...

DC: Really? The song is called "accidental racist", and yet he knows why the black guy working a minimum wage job is offended despite not discussing it with him. And then LL trades off bandanas for the fucking confederate flag.

Oh, its LL without a doubt. I'm not able to render the final verdict, but I'm thinking even without knowing who was saying what, he would have had the most singularly offensive line in the entire song.

The entire song is both offensive and completely undercutting of the title in the first two lines. That has to be some sort of record.

You're on the right path!
My guess is 2 games for MDZ. It was reckless, which usually isn't time away, but the results looked bad and it was a star player.
(And how about Dupuis' followup. Rare you see such an obviously dirty play that a complete whiff still draws 2:00.)

Fun fact that makes me want to kill myself: When everyone is healthy and Mariano is on the mound, 7 of the 10 Yankees in the game will have received MVP votes in 2006. Even "better" way of looking at this, give or take a miscount. Of the 30 on the 2006 AL MVP ballot, 12 play for other tea...

But the overall point is great. I remember playing one on one against my brother in grade school and he would get mad at me and call me a faggot and throw balls at me (both my head and my legs). So it all boils down to word choice? Gee, I wonder how often the word nigger is used on a basketball court. Rarely, im sure. Here's one thing I've never understood in these debates: The people taking the coaches' sides almost universally have an air of "if you can't take it, you're soft" to their argument, but is there anything more soft or subserviant than letting a person beat you because you made a mistake?

(And because I know where this is headed, calling them a "pussy" is very much not the same. None of the players were or could potentially be women with vaginas. So you can tastelessly imply they're soft in a variety of off-color ways without that slur.)

Flipside argument: This proves the AD has awful judgment and you may as well fire him now before his next screwup. Kicking players, throwing balls at their heads and screaming that they're "fucking faggots" (while not winning!!!) isn't a gray area.

The assistant is the son of hateable St. Joseph's of PA head coach Phil Martelli. I know a decent portion of their fanbase realizes the Nelson/West run was almost a decade ago and is over Martelli; trying to give his son a soft landing might push the majority over.
