Re: Taboos
That was the first porn I ever saw, too. Back in the days when people rented the tape and the player.Shirley wrote:The first porno I ever saw was Taboo. My friend's dad had rented it from a local video store. Apparently the family was there renting movies and his dad tried to sneak that one in there. My friend noticed and then after school the next day, we went looking for it. Found it hidden under the little table the TV was sitting on. The first time we turned it on, I think we watched about 3 seconds before panicking it and stopping (his sister was in there and screamed at an up-close shot of beaver - apparently that's where his dad had stopped the tape).
The next day, we watched a lot more of it.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Re: Taboos
Autoassinophilia: the sexual fetish of wanting to be killed. Didn't know that this would be common enough to have a name. And, obviously, it's something that can never be replicated, but I'm guessing that the planning and build-up is a big part of it.
Great article by Rachel Monroe in Matter about a man in Texas who hired somebody to kill him in the desert. Okay, look, I've put in my Gladwellian 10,000 hours of thinking about death and dying, but I've never considered anything like this.
This article also briefly mentions the German cannibal case from a few years ago. (Somebody posted an ad, looking for a volunteer to be murdered and consumed. Then somebody actually responded to the ad!) I skimmed a couple of articles about this case when it was going on, not really wanting to learn too much about it. I even followed a link to a cannibalism message board, where people involved in the case congregated. It hadn't been updated in a while, but it was still there. I clicked on it to confirm, then got creeped out and left immediately.

There's no mystery or suspense to this article. It's clear early on what happened and who did it. But it's still a great piece of storytelling. He was also firmly fixed on a method of death. There’s no polite way of putting it: Doc had decided that he wanted to be filmed as he was staked down and cut open. His very own Face of Death, caught on camera. This was a crucial but problematic part of the fantasy. It tended to turn prospective killers off. Doc was worried that once they were out in the middle of the desert, Baker would just shoot him dead — or, worse, drive away and leave him to wander the desert until he succumbed to a slow, unwitnessed death by starvation. But Doc had thought this through, too. He put a thousand dollars in his apartment mailbox. He filed the head of his little mailbox key so it was as small as possible. Then he encased it in some plastic tubing and swallowed it. In order to get the money, Baker would have to get the key. And in order to get the key, he’d have to cut Doc open.

Re: Taboos
Wow. That was like watching a movie.
Btw. The first porn i watched was Exstacy when i was 13. Found a tape under the couch. I had seen softcore before but to see oral and penetration for the first time was incredible. I had no idea filming this was allowed.

Kung Fu movies are like porn. There's 1 on 1, then 2 on 1, then a group scene..
