The power of the Swamp never ceases to amaze me.

Between moneys sent to me and what a couple of users have donated directly to the food pantry, we've now raised more than $700 in Ben's memory.

I received the last donation I knew was coming in, so I am no longer accepting new donations on behalf of the Swamp.

Two Swampers told me they gave money directly to the food pantry, and when I add their donation amounts to the amount I collected, we raised a whopping $890 in Bensell's memory.

Absolutely. Great job, Gang. Bunch of good people up in here. I certainly hated to have to share this news but it warms my heart that a group that knows a person only in passing (Even me - we lived in the same town and I saw him only a few times ever) could muster up so much generosity.

And God's Pantry does good work. They do a good job of getting meals to people who need them. My mother was involved with Eastern Kentucky branch and I often helped them load trucks.

Again, I hate that it happened, but am glad that we could make a difference.

I appreciate the thanks for volunteering to collect funds in Ben's memory.

The donation has been made. Here's what I wrote in the comments section when leaving the donation:

This donation is in memory of Ben Mikesell, AKA Bensell on the Sportsfrog Web site. The site’s members collected funds for God’s Pantry to honor Bensell’s memory. Ben was an intelligent man and a gentle spirit, and his loss saddened us greatly. RIP.
