Yeah, that was fascinating. I had some idea about that stuff happening, but it never really dawned on me just how easy it is to manufacture fake or exaggerated debt and go after people with it.

Yeah, I know what you mean. A good piece, but that story really could justify a New Yorker length story.

Spouses whose partners wrote best-selling books about their terminal illnesses end up in a relationship.

Really nice story. I whole-heartedly recommend "When Breath Becomes Air" by the way (I haven't read the other one mentioned).

OMG, you guys. I didn't realize anyone outside of Detroit even knew about this.

There was even this story in Vice.

I guess this is a good example of the Internet as archive.

Can't run a search on the site, and can't find the Headlines thread, so I'll leave this here...

Mum makes bizarre PUBIC HAIR DRESS after dozens send her bushy donations from their private parts

Oh good God!
Sarah has spent the last six months working on the dress, which she says she stored in her 13-year-old son's bedroom.

Wearing gloves for protection, Sarah was forced to wear a face and eye mask after she started gagging while working on the dress.

She said: "I set to work with my eye mask, breathing mask and thickest gloves I could find, because who wants to eat pubic hair?"

While the headline is accurate, there's a lot more to it than that. Should check out the story.

Decapitation on a Water Slide

There had been many, many injuries before the fatal ride.
A simple waterslide can require months of calculation, computer modeling and prototyping by trained engineers before builders break ground. But investigators say that engineers were never directly involved in Verrückt’s conception or design and that Henry and his team completed a prototype within 36 days.
How the hell did this ride get passed by state inspectors?

Oh, I forgot.

I have tried very hard to not do it, but I can't help it - the child who was killed was the son of a Republican state Representative.

Which explains why this guy is being charged. If it was a black kid, no way there's this kind of investigation.

The McQueen Sub is awesome, but nowhere near as iconic as the Newman Daytona that's mentioned in the article. I'd personally rather have a Sub than a Daytona, but the number font on the Newman Daytona is gorgeous.

They're both amazing timepieces, and I really prefer the smaller sizes of the vintage Rolexes to what Rolex is putting out these days.
