NFL 2018 - Week 13
I felt bad beating up on the ol' Throwboy, or even Trevor Siemian. Better choice out there, LMK.
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.

The NFL has some serious explaining to do regarding the way they've handled the "investigation" into the Kareem Hunt incident.

Re: NFL 2018 - Week 13
I predict the Rams are gonna have their best defensive performance of the year against the Lions. There's been a lot of grousing about the Rams D, but they've played some great offenses in the last few weeks. For the life of me I'm not sure why the spread isn't higher.

Wonder if there'll be a Ray Rice sort of reaction - once there was video, Rice was doomed.Brontoburglar wrote: ↑Fri Nov 30, 2018 5:02 pm The NFL has some serious explaining to do regarding the way they've handled the "investigation" into the Kareem Hunt incident.
That fucker ran up to a prone woman and kicked her.

Re: NFL 2018 - Week 13
Wouldn't put it close to a ray rice level of brutality. Video gonna cost him checks though. Both really should have walked away after the initial mush. You can't keep following an angry NFL running back and not expect to eat the ground (and the wall).
Re: NFL 2018 - Week 13
Bronto's right though -- the timeline on this is really fucked up. Sounds like the Chiefs/NFL knew about it right after it happened, which honestly leaves a hell of a lot of questions unanswered not the least of which and not the most important of which is why the hell the Chiefs didn't just try to get Hunt suspended for six games at the beginning of the season instead of what might be the last six weeks of the season and/or playoffs.

Kindly fuck off. It’s on hunt to walk away, no? For myriad reasons, the absolute least of which is his career.
I mean shit. You’re basically sayin she wAs asking for it. Fuck that train of thought.
Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.

To be fair he should get a couple of months to think it over and see which way the wind is blowing.

Re: NFL 2018 - Week 13
I cannot for the life of me figure out the timeline on this. This was a big deal in KC in February, but it disappeared because there were no charges and there was also no kick mentioned in the police report. Then in June there was an alleged punch at a waterpark.brian wrote: ↑Fri Nov 30, 2018 7:13 pmBronto's right though -- the timeline on this is really fucked up. TMZ said that police had the video and that adds another layer. No charges were filed because police said they didn't have evidence of a crime. That's not evidence of a crime? Huh?
If police didn't release the video publicly, the NFL had a hurdle to get it. But they have some really smart and connected people on team and league security. They are well connected. The NFL just learning about the video today seems unlikely if not improbable *if they did a thorough investigation.*
ETA: Hunt was cut as I was typing this and got distracted. Point still stands. I still have a ton of questions. Hunt fucked up and deserves punishment. But there are other people at fault for the way this situation evolved too.

Re: NFL 2018 - Week 13
You don't need to walk away from fights with NFL guys? I'd think you might learn that lesson pretty quick but folks keep trying them and they keep appeasing folk with ass whoopings. Certainly doesn't make it right though it's very obvious that the police didn't see it as cut and dried with regard to criminality so you might not be so indignant. But yeah... Don't beat up anyone.

I'm going to be the asshole to just pop up out of nowhere and say it, even though it has been said before, The Patriots are prosperous because they are in the AFC. The NFC is a bloodbath of talented teams. The only team capable of beating the Pats in the AFC is the Chiefs this year. Every other year it's a lackluster group of mediocre teams. yeah, yeah, Pittsburgh. Fuck Pittsburgh. they've shit the bed for years now. There is no one that can stop the stupid Pats from making the Super Bowl except for Kansas City. Meanwhile, the majority of the good teams will battle it out and kill each other in the NFC. Rams, Saints, Bears?, Cowboys?... Ok, this was my argument for last year, doesn't work so well this year. But my original point still stands. Pats have had an easier path to the Super Bowl than their counterparts every year they've made it.

Re: NFL 2018 - Week 13
And that was all because My Vikings are up against the Patriots this week. True test for Minnesota. and for New England. The Vikings have lost to every good team they have faced this year, Saints and Rams... and I guess we can include the Bears. Not sure why i said it's a test for New England... They're doing good enough already. I guess if they shut down a team that was predicted to be first in the NFC (north at least), they be doing good.

I have the strength and quickness of a housecat but could still beat the shit out of women. But I don't, even if 'provoked'.
He might have an argument if it weren't for the kick.
This is like saying "oh he should have listened to the police" after someone gets shot.

Re: NFL 2018 - Week 13
Saying that an individual’s strength and athleticism makes them *less* culpable for their violent actions is certainly a take. Deontay Wilder could straight up kill people if he got into bar fights, but I don’t think “tough shit, you should’ve stayed away from him” would fly as as defense if he did that. And that type of mentality is particularly gross in the domestic violence context, given the very long history in this country and others of law enforcement condoning relationship violence against women.
And even if you take out the kick, Hunt gave the woman a hard shove and then fought past repeated attempts by his friends to restrain him, including throwing that one guy to the ground in an effort to get back to her.

Re: NFL 2018 - Week 13
Saying she could have avoided those shots if she wouldn't have moved toward him after the first shot is not assigning blame or limiting culpability. Just truth. And common sense.
Re: NFL 2018 - Week 13
Common sense was for Hunt not putting himself in a situation like this. Just keep her out of the room like she reported. He had kicked her out of the room. Call hotel security to have her re elected over or sent to the lobby to wait for her ride. But he confronts her. Has to be held back by multiple people and still shoves one of them hard enough to knock her into the wall. She was definitely woozy and trying to get up. And then to top it all off he had to kick her.
There needs to be questions raised to the CPD for their actions in viewing the tape. Why did they not think it warranted no action? Same goes for the NFL/Chiefs.

[troll]Thanks for the reminder that the Pats are 2-5 in playoff matchups against the Mannings. Shows what happens when they actually face real competition.

Re: NFL 2018 - Week 13
I also think the Steelers, Colts, and Chargers with their competent QBs all could beat KC with or without Hunt because of KC's defense. Those three can also beat the Pats in the playoffs.

Small limb I'm climbing out on, but the Chargers will do nothing in the playoffs.

Portions of the Kareem Hunt interview on ESPN (I didn't watch, PFT has quotes):
Actually, you are that kind of person.I just want to let the world know how sorry I am for my actions. It’s been a tough time for me and I’m extremely embarrassed because of that video. I’m definitely not that kind of person. My mother raised me right. I was raised by my mom and my grandma and they taught me right from wrong.
Yeah, you're that kind of person. He also admitted to lying to the Chiefs about what happened after the incident was first reported in February.
