Actually the cowboys lost this game on they're last drive. 3rd and 14 1 minute left why is someone holding? Who cares how far the RB can go. Take the clock down to 20 seconds and punt.
The holding call gave the lions can extra timeout cause they declined it. 1 minute was enough for Stafford.

Calvin Johnson had 329 receiving yards today... There are 16 TEAMS that haven't thrown for 329 yards in a game yet this season... That includes the Cardinals, who haven't done it since 2009, and the Chiefs and Redskins, who haven't done it since 2010.

One thought - when Stafford dove in, the Cowboys still had two timeouts available. Once the Lions hit the line of scrimmage with 12 seconds left, would it not have made sense for garrett to call a time out in order to regroup a very disorganized defense?
I can see both sides of this discussion, and obviously have the benefit of hindsight, but watching that last series again, the Cowboys line looked gassed after having to sprint downfield to get in position.

They should have taken a timeout on the previous play, the long pass to (can't remember) who got pushed out of bounds at the 23. With the clock stopped the Cowboys could have taken a timeout to reset the defense. That entire drive happened too fast.
They could have taken a timeout at 12 seconds but they really thought Stafford would spike the ball and then they would reset the defense. They never ever thought Stafford would dive in.. you can call that bad coaching if you want....

Yeah, I get Priutt's point and I wouldn't say he's wrong, but in that situation the team almost always spikes the ball and you can take a TO after that if the defense is gassed. If they had taken a TO they might have given Detroit a few extra seconds which would have been a big deal since the TD was scored with 12 seconds left. Call the TO at say 17 seconds and you're basically guaranteeing 4 shots at the end zone.
As much as I'm obviously happy with the result, Stafford would have been excoriated if it hadn't worked. He could have fumbled. If he was stuffed, the game is probably over. Calling the timeout removes the possibility of that result.
My thought was completely based on hindsight. Just something I noticed when watching the replay of that drive. In real time, it didn't occur to me at all - but then again, I'm not in charge of anything but the remote on Sunday.

When in doubt the best decision is usually to let the Lions shoot themselves in the foot. For some reason that didn't happen on that play.

Me too, although I did yell at the tv for the cowboys to take at time out at 23 yd line.. again since the clock was already stopped.
But anything after that was really a blur.

Last week a grand old total of 15 people entered. So you basically have a really good shot at winning some dough. So if you know what the code word is or can find someone who does, might want to take a crack at it.
Very few teams, if any, seem to truly double cover Megatron (safety over the top is not a true double team in my book). I would do that and then try to contain Reggie Kardashian as much as I could.
Or maybe I'd go into a zone with a guy on Johnson. I don't like, break down the tape but only one or two of his catches each week are the go-over-two-or-three-guys unstoppable type. The rest he just streaks down or across the field with some dude trying to keep up and the safety late getting there, as if he should be looking at anybody else.

Yeah, some teams have struggled with that #2 WR far too long. How Detroit and Houston went so long (and still kind of are in Detroit's case) is kind of baffling. Though I guess with Broyles and Titus Young they've been more unlucky than anything.
Steelers need to turn Antonio Brown back into a good #2. Right now they have one of the least intimidating passing offenses in the NFL.
