2013 NFL Week 10

Post by TheHumanComa »

Well, since nobody else seems to be watching this game, I guess I'll start the thread.

Vikings are looking a lot better since they switched back to Ponder, keeping it close against the Redskins right now. Seems to be score for score apart from the Vikings first possession that ended in an interception.

Vikes lost another last minute game last week, that makes three so far this year. This one looks like it's going the same way.

I kind of want them to finish last so they can draft a good QB, if there is one in this year's draft.

Ok, nevermind, back to normal Vikings play, 24-14 for Washington.

Was there a Viking defender within twenty yards of Paulsen on that last touchdown? Not disparaging the Vikes but, damn, you just don't see anyone that open on a play that started on the 1-yard line.

No. That was horrible. So little time left on the clock too. just cover everybody and go into halftime 3 points down. For a team that used to be called "The Purple People Eaters" they are really sucking at defense this year. Like I said in my first post, they were winning three games this year going into the closing minutes but couldn't stop a thing and lost all three.

One half of this game is enough.

Mayock was right - how could the Vikings be sucked in by play action when the Redskins were out of time outs?

Nope, that ain't in. and it looks like Ponder is hurt. If they can't punch this in with Peterson then all is lost. Unless of course it holds up as a touchdown....

I'm in Mexico so I can't watch...did the Vikes just randomly tie this game up in the span of like 4 minutes?

Ponder just got injured diving for the pylon (he was holding his left arm while walking off, so my completely amateur opinion/guess is dislocated shoulder from when he landed after the hit on his other shoulder). Called a TD, but replay is probably going to overrule it.

Cassel time.

Down 27-21 and a foot away from the end zone, first down.

Mustering a defensive stop went a long way.

They've mentioned the fact that the Vikings have lost three games in the fourth quarter a bunch of times now. If they can take an eight point lead here, they might be able to avoid number four.

vikings suck at time management, even if they run it the whole time, they won't eat up 6 minutes.

smart move then. Just let them take three, instead of trying for seven again.

Didn't expect this one to be the most entertaining game of the night.

Nice time out, minny. (0:38 remaining, red clouds out of time outs, driving for the tie at the five)

Ponder almost looked like an NFL QB the last couple games. Still no idea why they were intent on using Freeman.

remember the discussion a few weeks ago on whether the Cowboys should have used a timeout on defense before Stafford reached the ball over the goal line?

Last night Frazier called a timeout after a running play down to the 4 yard line to stop the clock FOR the Skins. Seemed stupid at the time but on those final 3 plays, the Vikings defense was actually organized because they were probably reminded that the Skins have to throw the ball from now on, another running play would be really risky, unlike the Cowboys defense who weren't even lined up properly.

I know. There were 38 seconds left. Plenty of time to run three plays. Even if they ran on one they'd be fine. Mayock was freaking out over that and in turn I was freaking out on Mayock because he's an idiot.

If they ran on 2nd down with 38 seconds left and got stuffed, would they have to spike the ball to reorganize and make it 4th down? Or could they line up and run a normal play?

If they could run a normal play on 3rd down, a delay-run on 2nd down would have been perfect against the Vikings blitz.

Plenty of time to run 2 more plays if they got stuffed on 2nd. Just have to make sure they pass it in the end zone on 3rd down.

Goddamn! I am happy to hear that someone other than myself watches Thursday games with the volume on really low. Mayock is in my mind the worst NFL announcer out there - and I say that while realizing that he knows a shitload about the game. But the fact that he never shuts up about how much he knows is enough to drive a man to drink.

Combined with cliche-machine Brad Nessler and you have a team that could only be made worse by adding Joe Theismann to the mix.

Love this quote about Mayock (from the great journalist Phil Mushnick) -
It was as if Mayock followed us around the room, poking us, annoying us, demanding we still pay attention to him when he’d already drained us of our patience.

My sister's birthday was yesterday. She is spending the weekend in Pittsburgh and going to the game today with her Buffalo born and bred husband. I'm hoping the Steelers win for his sake, because she is a terrible loser and I can't imagine how miserable his trip home will be if the Bills win.

Raiders already up 7-0? I switched over from footie asap, and missed it.

Despite perfect sunny weather, I could not bring myself to hump out to the Jersey swamp, shell out $200 for bad football (I can go watch the Columbia Lions for $10). I'm not all the way back as a Raider fan yet. If I go to a home game, at least I get the freak show on top of the bad football.

Ah man am I sick of watching shitty football. At least the last three weeks the Steelers played at 4 so I got a good three hours of variety, if not good games. Fuuuck.
