Aw yeah it's map watching time! My favorite January tradition. Anywhere from zero inches to 3 feet of snow incoming this weekend.

Amazing that a volcano in the ocean near Tonga can have the effect on the coast of California.

Haven't seen snow like this in many, many years.
10 inches with 6 more on the way.
Any of you guys have a snow blower I could borrow?

After I use mine, sure. Need to clear off the 10-12 inches we got last night and this morning. But you have to pick it up.

The good news, our expected 8-12 inches of snow was mostly rain. Bad news, it flooded my back room, after my contractor dug down and resealed the entire foundation, trenched the backyard into an outdoor sump pump well. This never fucking ends. I’m only renting from now on.

Re: The Weather
Contractor came over and we took a look. It seems like the former flooding zone held up where he sealed. Sump pump is working, and we don't have pooling or water running from the backyard where it used to the old problem spots. We had about 3 inches of snow before it turned to rain, and there was a sheet of ice on the patio. He thinks the sheet of elevated ice brought the runoff water in through the sliding glass door. They are going to use silicone to seal the door better and put in a driveway drain in front of the door. I can't figure out how they are going to pipe the drain away from the house without ripping up six feet of patio, but maybe that's the plan.Brontoburglar wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 1:45 pmdo you not have an indoor sump pump down there? what's next on the list of options? Re: The Weather
The carpad I had installed behind my rowhouse is laid out so that it's a 5°incline to the left side of my house, and it's like a 3° on the right side. The end of the carpad is at grade with the alley (which immediately slopes downward). There's a drain to the left of the sliding glass door, which runs right out to the alley (beneath the carpad). The Sybian wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 2:55 pmContractor came over and we took a look. Current forecast once again has the NJ shore and points east (including northeast, as noted above) getting the brunt of this one. I did just make a quick trip to the store to buy some junk food just in case.

Re: The Weather
Not sure what the rest of the country is experiencing but the wind here in Colorado is starting to piss me off. Currently in week 3 of almost daily 20-30 mph winds with gusts running into the 50-70 mph range. Trying to get some stuff done outside and start up my new fire table but the winds have made it a miserable task.
I would like expensive whiskey.

Re: The Weather
The wind around here seems to get worse every year. It's been a very bad March/April for it this year. Even when it's nice out it's hard to enjoy it because of the wind.GoodKarma wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 1:59 pm Not sure what the rest of the country is experiencing but the wind here in Colorado is starting to piss me off. Re: The Weather
Nothing like what you're getting GK, but the winds have definitely been awful here recently too.

Re: The Weather
I guess we are all saying the same thing. My wife and I were just discussing yesterday how the spring wind seems a lot worse around here than it used to be.

Jokes aside, I was reading that the weather has become increasingly windy across the world over the last 2 decades.

This old man is yelling at the wind now. The interstate through Wyoming is closed. That means a longer drive to Denver.

Windy AF in Des Moines when we landed yesterday. Have never before had a plane rock back and forth whilst parked on the tarmac.
