This is like watching Gretzky with Edmonton type dominance .

But you are right. Harry Kane is 2nd in the scoring race and he has half of Haaland's goals.
EPL record is 34 goals, he is now 8/11 to beat that record.

I am old enough to know the blasphemy I speak. Gretzky looked like he was playing some different version of hockey. I get the same feeling watching Haaland scoring goals in one of the best leagues in the world like he's playing against U-16 players.Pruitt3 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 03, 2022 4:58 amFirst reaction was that you speak blasphemy.tennbengal wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 10:14 am This is like watching Gretzky with Edmonton type dominance .

Re: EPL 2022/2023
I wonder what the odds would be if an injury nullified the bet. Might not even be on the board.
Re: EPL 2022/2023
Gretzky really did seem that way. He and Jordan are the exemplars of that level of greatness. And Gretzky was even better in terms of the rest of his league than Jordan was.tennbengal wrote: ↑Mon Oct 03, 2022 6:20 amI am old enough to know the blasphemy I speak. I was trying to think of other players in my lifetime who were that much better than the rest of their league for a prolonged period of time, and there's no one. Sometimes a pitcher becomes completely unhittable, but that doesn't go on for over a decade.
Re: EPL 2022/2023
Boy oh boy I just don't know that I believe Jordan was ever anywhere close to the Gretzky/Ruth/Haaland??? level of lapping the field.
Re: EPL 2022/2023
I think in the 90s he definitely could be considered that. Except when playing the Rockets of course.
well this is gonna be someone's new signature - bronto

Pairing Haaland with KDB is unfair. And now Haaland looks like he's gotten more comfortable with his new team...his assist to Foden was fantastic.tennbengal wrote: ↑Mon Oct 03, 2022 6:20 amI am old enough to know the blasphemy I speak. Re: EPL 2022/2023
What Haaland is doing is incredible, but come on. He's played less than 25% of one season. And numbers in sports like hockey and soccer will always be impressive in relation to others due to the relatively low scores. Nobody scores all the points in a basketball game and NBA teams don't triple up their opponents no matter how lopsided the game is.

Honestly, is he not?
Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.
Re: EPL 2022/2023
Yeah but was he still Wilt chamberlain before he got on the all stars. Answer is no. Don't get me wrong still the man for Dortmund but no ones talking wilt or Gretzky.

Re: EPL 2022/2023
If he scored the same number of goals in the Bundesiliga, everybody would say it's because he is playing in an inferior league. Moving into the EPL and immediately making this big of an impact is what impresses me so much. It takes most big-name superstars time to adjust to playing in the EPL. Sure, he is getting great service, but half of his goals, I don't think any other player scores.

Re: EPL 2022/2023
Maybe but he didn't even lead the bundesliga in goals so I'd say the team is what makes him this dominant.
Eta somehow the guy is 22 so maybe

Re: EPL 2022/2023
No, no, no.
He's on the champs and he has the best supporting cast in all of soccer behind him.
Having said that, you put that guy on Crystal Palace, he's still in the running for the Golden Boot. Just not a runaway.

I say we put him on Arsenal for a while and see what happens.

Jesus looks great.

Re: EPL 2022/2023
Jesus has been fantastic, no complaints there. He fit in instantly, netting on one of his first touches in pre-season and makes the players around him better. Plus he seems to bring a joy to everyone's game.Pruitt3 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 03, 2022 5:22 pmListen, Arsenal is reaping the benefits of the Haaland signing. The Sybian wrote: ↑Mon Oct 03, 2022 5:20 pmI say we put him on Arsenal for a while and see what happens.

Re: EPL 2022/2023
It's just wrong. How City have dropped any points is very odd.
Re: EPL 2022/2023
Pretty wild to see the minutes-long standing ovation for Diego Costa when he subbed off for Wolves today at Stamford Bridge. Not often you see that for a player in the opposing shirt.
Totally Kafkaesque
Re: EPL 2022/2023
Chelsea was very lucky not to be down a couple of goals at the half against Aston Villa today. Instead, a horrible clearance by Miggs gifted Mount a goal and Kepa made several great saves to put Chelsea up 1-0. Potter had started an odd lineup, probably due to the busy calendar and several injuries (Kante, James, Fofana at least). But credit to him, he saw the issue and made some halftime substitutions and the second half was much better.
Four straight clean sheets and multi-goal wins for the Blues. It's coming together.

Hope the injury wasn't too serious, hate to miss the World CupDaveInSeattle wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 5:27 pmThat was a cracker of a game. Gutty effort by some Liverpool guys playing out of position. I thought Jota had a great game tracking back and covering on defense.

Man U have seemed to be in control all match. My ability to pay attention has waxed and waned as work has called, but even before the goals Man U seemed to be bossing the match.
Until everything is less insane, I'm mixing weed with wine.
Re: EPL 2022/2023
As thorough a destruction as 2-0 can be. Lloris was definitely Spurs' man of the Match - first goal was a nasty deflection and he made 5-6 great saves. And Spurs defenders played well, but their midfield was completely overrun.govmentchedda wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 4:06 pm Man U have seemed to be in control all match.
