Well, we’ve got the dog discussion going. Now all we need are some posts about loud teenagers and dangerous drivers, and the Swamp can convert and become a site included in the NextDoor app.
How about the city not enforcing the laws on the books about modified exhausts on cars? We have a Latin American population of small guys who strive to modify, say a Toyota or a Honda so that it sounds like a drag racer. It's insanely loud and it turns my hair white.
Thought I'd share some good news in this thread for a change. My father had to come back to NJ for a PET scan last week, as a CAT scan showed a suspicious spot on a lymph node. Doctor told him it looked like the cancer spread, and if it did, there was no treatment and they'd call it a wrap. Both my parents assumed the worst and expected the bad news today. Just got the call, cancer has not spread. Cancer in the lungs shrunk enough that they can operate (pending additional tests). Just needs to have the lungs drained and tested to make sure cancer cells aren't present in the fluid. So the roller coaster continues... Other positive, the side effects of the chemo finally subsided and he seems himself for the first time since this started.
And thanks for the support. It's weird venting to a message board, but it really helps.

for some stupid reason i agreed to fill in as gk in a sunday league game -- didn't really know any of the players. they asked. i was available. sure.
tore my bicep tendon (as it attaches to the elbow) dont' ask me how - indoor 7v7 lots of aaction at top of box - don't think i was kicked but in ovestretching, the goal was kicked out of my hand and think thats when it snapped
surgery scheduled for friday -
splint for two weeks followed by brace up to 6 weeks.
oh yeah.. and yeah.. and baby princess is expected to make her arrival via c setion in 36 days.. so best case i'll have the brace removed (to start rehab) 8 days after she arrives.
in the meantime.. had to cancel two if not three work trips.. had planned on taking 4-6 weeks of leave for the baby, tons of pressure at work, the 13y.o mutt is having major issues that no vet can figure out unless we spend another $1500 on top of the $2K already spent and had a seizure yesterday.
missus is having all sorts of issues around pregnancy -- baby is fine but she's miserable. got the gestational, has major allergies, cant' take anything and can't sleep. oh and for next two weeks i can't drive.
oh, and when i told my dad of course he couldn't help but lecture on what i'm doing playing soccer at my advanced age -- then he called back to offer to come and help drive me to/from -- makes sense -- but the missus isn't too into it -- i get why he wants to come and she'll be happy about it when he's here -- but until then ughhh.
FCUK!!!
i made burgers on sunday night - we were going to watch a movie (TAg, had alrady seen it but the boy wanted to see it) instead i came home early with a messed up arm. missus thought its ok, just rest and ice.. i saw in the mirror and knew.
sad and depressing and can't get out of my head. puta vida.

Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.

Holy shit another baby?
(and hope your arm gets better, sure)
ja!
i'm pretty sure i had dropped the news a few months back - forget which thread..
and yeah.. going to be a pain in the arm for a bit and then rehab will suck - will miss the rest of the spring soccer season and likely will not run the tough mudder in the fall -- but snowboarding next season should be a go.
Old man in surgery right now, removing a section of lung and lymph nodes. Chemo seemed to work really well, didn’t spread, so they are optimistic they can cut out all the cancer.

Thanks for the support, guys. He is out of surgery, they said it went well. They were able to complete laparoscopically, so hopefully easier recovery. Mom just went back to visit him now, only allowed one visitor.
