I mean, if you discount folks across the pond...

degen pulls things fairly west and north... Is PDX still living in PDX? Johnnie is in the SW, right? Drugs is in LA, correct. But then you've got Buffalo and all the NE and Mid-Atlantic guys.

*stares at map... does fake calculations*

St. Louis it is!

This would be a really fun guessing game.

I’m thinking Quad Cities area if you take the extreme of each direction. I’m going with Calgary, San Carlos, Miami, and Boston. I’m not doing the math.

Fuck, man. I'm not venturing into Western NJ! Now Scranton is a good idea, we can hit the Anthracite Heritage Museum! Many trips to visit my parents, I threaten my kids with a trip to the Anthracite Museum if they act up.

Anthracite Café (Wilkes Barre not Scranton) had a good beer list before that was commonplace (especially for back there) but then their beer list got worse as others got better so we haven’t been in a very long time.

I'm gonna work from the hotel/etc. a bit but will have time to explore. We are at the pennywell very close to the arch. Any ideas for bars/restaurants are appreciated!
For a brewery visit consider Four Hands. Location is close to downtown maybe even walkable on a nice day. Food is good there too.

If you like Cajun definitely hit up Broadway Oyster Bar. Great food and a fun atmosphere.

Good place for the best craft beer menu downtown is Hair Of The Dog. It might seem a little sketchy at first but there’s a broad mix of people there most nights.

In Victoria BC today and have to say I’ve not seen too many more lovely cities in my days.

Post-exile Scottie and I had stayed in touch a bit and I grew to know him a little better than his Swamper self. I hope he’s still here, safe and happy. I wish no ill will for any Swamper, past or present.

Except maybe zlax haha

Victoria is great. We went there for our tenth and twenty-fifth anniversaries.

And I also hope Scottie is well. I was thinking about him today after seeing a notice of a new Tragically Hip album coming.

Asked the bartender what best pizza was downtown. He told me a joint and the lady next to me freaked out. The bartender then conceded it isn’t very good but he was just being helpful.

If it helps, I'm proud of you. And a little jealous. My wife goes to St. Louis almost every month, never thought to go with her. Probably helps that your kids are out of the house, but also...St. Louis.

If you guys never made it to Chicago, let me suggest an architecture boat cruise. Just some fantastic buildings in so many different styles. I'm staying across the river from the buildings on the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot album cover (and some glass tower with TFG's name on it).

Compensation tower!

(I instantly recognized the Wilco cover building, which is weird since I'm not much of a Wilco (outside Mermaid Ave.))

I was the holdout on the architecture boat tour and it really was great. One huge rec is not spilling beer on your leg 3 minutes in then getting swarmed by bees until you give up and go sit on the lower deck.

We did a "let's visit Chicago as tourists" trip a few years ago, and yes, the architecture cruise was the highlight.
