NHL missed an opportunity tonight with no NBA. It's a holiday in Canada they could have started the game anytime, like 7 Eastern, 4 Pacific.

I’m sure it’s not new but the virtual ads on the boards weird me out. It’s all sophisticated looking on the main feed, then they go to another angle for the replay and you see the Nobody Beats the Wiz ads are still there

It's either this technology or the technology that allows local ads on national podcasts that impresses me most in the past couple of years.

You had me all confused. They're moving up two slots in the first round and four slots in the second, and in exchange giving up another second. I was thinking that third pick was going the other way.

Maybe Chicago thinks there's a cliff sized drop in quality after pick #18? Either way, it sure seems early to give up pick #61 when some other team may go off script before them.

Right, that's the thing. Up to 15 in a draft you love 12, sure. From 20 to 18 implies you think you can script the first 18 picks with just one mistake and that your 18 to 19 dropoff is 2nd round pick significant.

Also, now more than ever, I stand by saying the Rangers should have included Rempe in a deadline deal just to avoid the type of sideshow a contender really doesn't need.

Kind of odd that the three picks CHI is giving up are all ones they received in trade.

That seems specifically engineered to justify it but the picks don’t care where they came from.

In the game one postgame show, Messier opined that maybe the Rangers should play Rempe in game two. Rangers twitter seems to agree. Hockey culture, man.

ETA:

He’ll play six minutes, take a bad penalty and force the Rangers to play a short bench in the 2nd and 3rd.

I'm sorry but what is "playoff Rempe" and how does that differ between regular season Rempe and why is playing him controversial? Doesn't every team have a thug or two?

Is he just bad at hockey beyond the physicality part?

No, teams do not “have a thug or two”.

Why you don’t put Rempe in is because right now. Teams that can roll 4 lines are a lot more dangerous in OT. The Panthers have an advantage over NYR. Doesn’t mean they’ll win but NY basically has a worthless player in their 12 forwards for the rest of the game.

Only asked because it seems like yet another miss versus one of Trouba’s actually damaging headshots.

oh absolutely both.

Trouba I don't need to talk about - arguably a top-5 most dangerous player in the league, we were just waiting for the flying elbow and there it was.

By not calling what was in any other parallel universe a major/misconduct it left everything wide open. And i'm honestly surprised it wasn't a free for all, but I'm sure it would have been had the game gotten even to 5-2. The one exception was the run that Bennett took from somewhere in south Georgia holyfuck - I don't even remember who he hit. Call the initial penalty, call things tight or ya know *by the gd book* and it sets the tone.

I hate headshots more than maybe anything in hockey and they do.not.care. at all.

Totally agree. Trouba invites the retalitation against all the not Trouba Rangers, probably doubly so with him being the captain.

“Lower body” … took his second knee-to-knee of the season from Jensen back in the Washington series. Won’t be surprised if he’s having ligament surgery as soon as the season is over.

He definitely doesn't look right. Skating like he's got a groin injury, just from the gait.

=-==-=-

Shesterkin trying to steal this game. Not that Bob hasn't made some saves, but if you leveled out "holy shit' saves, Panthers are up by 3 goals right now. And the goals he's "let in" have been random AF.
