The problem with hating Mexico because of their fans is that Croatia's fans are a bunch of fascists, with swastikas and pro-Nazi chants. I'd love to wholeheartedly root for Croatia because of my family's connections, but I finally can't any more.
I don't have to deal with a city full of Croatian fans.

Too bad. I hear Zagreb is really nice.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

The Cameroon keeper looks very much like James Harden.

Also, Herrera has certainly earned his salary. When he was hired, he was the fourth Mexican head coach, within the past MONTH, and he led them to qualification against (certainly overmatched) New Zealand. Now, his team is on 7 points in the group stage, and possibly first place in the group.

I thought your roots are Serbian (I don't mean that as an insult)
Who knows? Maybe, you were kidnapped, tied up, taken away and held for ransom.

I'm Slovenian. But my family hid out in Croatia during the war, and my last name is Croatian for Croatia.

There's a plausible scenario where there are 4 teams from Europe in the knockouts.

This is the year of CONCACAF! The good news about that is the Costa Rica and Mexico and hopefully the US will jump up in the FIFA rankings, making beating them more valuable. Not sure how much of an effect that will be, but everyone in the region will play them, and hopefully will go up a bit in ranking. The only way the US avoids horrible draws is to somehow get into the top 8 and into Pot A. FIFA rankings are horribly unreliable, so who knows, maybe we can sneak in there.

You forget that Canada is still in the region.

Suarez angling for a move to La Liga, with talks apparently begun between Barca and Liverpool.

He's got to get out of England after his performance against them, no?

I could see Italy and Uruguay agreeing to a draw even though it doesn't benefit both teams.

I think its got more to do with a) they are going to go even deeper into Catennacio and b) he's HIGHLY likely to pull a second yellow the way that first half played out. The last thing they need is to give an already desperate Uruguay that kind of boost.

Do you work in England? Or with lots of Costa Ricans?

I was just wondering a few minutes ago why anyone would tune into that game instead of the Italy Uruguay match.

Oh, I agree. He didn't look into the game at all, was playing on a yellow, then picked up a yellow for a ridiculous attempt at a 50/50 ball. Italy got bad Balotelli today.

Was that an accumulation thing? Given what went down in the 1st, that seemed like a soft red to me.

This is why people hate italian soccer. But down a man and needing just a draw it's the right tactical decision, IMO.

It seemed to me that the ball was in the general area of his boot. I thought it should have been a yellow card for sure. And hey, the ref had a pretty good view, so it is what it is.
