I have no problems with Belgium either. Good side, seem to be generally lacking in douches.

I agree with Brian. I will root for Belgium. They were skilled and classy. #7 stood out to me in both regards.

I hated the 13 year old, but that spoke more to my mindset than anything he did.

How about ARG? I usually want the best player to take his place in history unless he's a total douche. Is Messi worth it?

By all accounts I've read, not only is Messi not a douche but also unfairly has to deal with the douchecloud of Maradona hanging over him.

Argentina have two titles though. I'd like to see a team get that first star on their jersey.

My second choice would be NED but got-damn has Robben become unlikable.

Can't argue there. Holland would be a distant fourth to Belgium, Costa Rica or Colombia winning it all in my mind. And I wouldn't be the least bit dismayed to see Messi get to lift the trophy if it comes to that.

Belgium is so nice, they even had our flag on their shirts yesterday. (Is that unusual? I thought that was pretty cool.)

I don't think it's a sponsorship thing to have other country's flags on your shirt. If you had the time, you could go to the FIFA site for game photos of this WC, and I'd bet 50% of the teams had them, while the other 50% didn't.

You're crazy, man. I loved that little dude. Argentina couldn't stop him without using 2 or 3 guys. Yeah, he probably dribbled too much, but he was quick and aggressive.

I'd love to see a team of tiny, spunky dudes like that. Shaqiri, Messi, Valbuena, Lahm, etc. That'd be great. They'd be a fucking menace.

This is not a sponsorship thing. It is a souvenir thing. They do this so the shirt is known to the be the game worn one.

This is pretty common in soccer. Here is one from a champions league game

Considering most of them trade shirts after the game and watch the person take the shirt off, it's pretty easy to know it's the game worn one.

That ref better hope he can get to a plane tonight. Had zero control of the game and now Neymar has a broken back.

I doubt too many Colombians are happy with him, either.

I basically watch just to see stars like Neymar and it suck he's out. However, it's poetic justice to a team who's strategy was to consistently foul Colombia's best player. Also, Neymar should have gotten a yellow for that ridiculous free kick block.

I don't know how that ref got this game. He has no control, never has. Very reserved demeanor, was terrible in the England-Uruguay game.

I think FIFA handcuffed themselves by not giving the Japanese ref another game due to his mistake in the first game. Yes it was a mistake and he was at a bad angle but his presence and game control is one of the best in the world. Similar to the highly regarded Uzbek ref.

Brazil games are not easy, they put so much pressure on the ref with their tacking and the embellishing.

Can we get That French Guy's post-mortem on the game vs Germany yesterday? I was expecting that to have game of the tournament potential, but France seemed to all of a sudden do an impression of the 2010 team. Disappointing after how much better they had looked earlier in the tournament.

That was some bullshit. I'm really surprised the ref didn't say something to him after the first time he did that.
