Then I YouTube the song and it was uploaded 4 years ago. And Timmy Trumpet seems to have had a redonkulous set at Tomorrowland a month ago.

I feel kinda out of the loop.

Reminds me of the moment EDM/trap music had with Baauer and the Harlem Shake from, checks notes, almost 10 years ago.
I need footnotes.

What kinda footnotes? It's an hour long EDM set from a music festival.

At 27:50 is Narco if you want to fast forward.

No clue about...

Edwin Diaz

Timmy Trumpet

Tomorrowland

Trap music

Bauer

Harlem Shake

Otherwise, no problem.

The fact that this thread was started in 2016. Which was six years ago. Which even then was 13 years from when this site began.

I win, I remember the Harlem Shake craze! I bet you knew about it. Picture it, 2013. People posting videos doing a dance in bizarre costumes:

Edwin Diaz is the Mets closer. He's been lights out this year. He also has one of the all time entrances. He comes out to the song Narco by Timmy Trumpet, an Australian DJ. It's so good, it went viral. The Mets then asked him to perform it live the other night. It was fucking awesome. Like some shit you'd see at WrestleMania.

Trap music is a form of EDM (electronic dance music) that mixes in elements of hip hop. One of the most played songs from this genre nearly a decade ago was Harlem Shake by Baauer. It too had a viral sensation to go along with it. Everyone was doing shit like this:

Tomorrowland is the largest EDM festival in the world that takes place yearly in Boom, Belgium. It's one of the hundreds, if not thousands, of music festivals yearly like Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza...etc.

One more thing about trap music. This song was also a smash hit and had a hysterical music video to go with it. And if you don't know about it, I'll cry because it's so damn ubiquitous.

Now if you ask me who the Mets are, what Australia is, or what exactly Lil Jon is turning down for I'm going to drive to Canada and ring-and-run your front door.

Okay - I remember the Harlem Shake, and I've heard a few seconds of that "Turned Down For What?" song a few times. (Great video too).

Had no clue that the Mets were good this year.

I watched the Narco part of the video, and every woman in the crowd was ridulously beautiful. They don't look like that at DMB concerts.

In fairness, there are 600,000 people attending and the cameramen were clearly seeking out beautiful women. That said, I'd wager there are much better looking girls at this event than a DMB show.

“All of the actors from Friends are now older than the youngest Golden Girl was in that show’s first season…
Rue McClanahan (youngest GG) was 51 when the Golden Girls began. Estelle Getty was 62. Betty White & Bea Arthur were 63.
Lisa Kudrow is now 58. Courteney Cox is 57. David Schwimmer & Matt LeBlanc are 54. Jennifer Aniston is 53. Matthew Perry is 52.”

So my son was born when I was 36, the same age as it dad when I was born, so there’s an interesting symmetry when I do stuff with him. For example, I’ve been playing a lot of 70s music with them when I drive them around, but I’m reminded how far back it is for them. Livin’ Thing by ELO which came on last time we were riding was released 35 years before he was born in 2011. A similar difference would be Glenn Miller’s In the Mood coming on in my Dad’s car in 1986.

I fear this day, but so far so good at 46.

And to LJam’s age thing, my father was 30 when I was born, and I was 30 when my son was born. Knowing my sons age is the only way I know my own age.

I was on a slow jog this morning - about 10 min/mile pace - and nearly 2 miles in, I pulled my hamstring. Felt it pop. I wasn't changing speeds or direction, just ambling along. Fuck me. Getting old sucks.

Ouch!

Get well soon.

I tried to kill a drive two weeks ago and three holes later had trouble walking - nice muscle pull.

Getting old sucks.

So, we are empty nesters to a point. Meaning that our daughter is living independently with a full-time real job. BUT - we have two seventeen year-old cats, and a fourteen year-old doggo, who are each in some sort of aging disrepair. So, the retirement world tour is on hold for a bit.

"It's like Ovaltine..." Pretty sure I've never had Postum. Had Ovaltine at a friend's house (parents were a hippie-ish and always had weird food). For some reason I liked it and made my mom buy it. I think that was a really short-lived era.
