To be fair I've never been a coffee drinker and rarely have hot chocolate or anything else coffee-adjacent, so the part of the store where I assume Postum would be is invisible to me.

I hear Postum is fine, but you can end up really depressed afterwards.

"It's like Ovaltine..." Pretty sure I've never had Postum. Had Ovaltine at a friend's house (parents were a hippie-ish and always had weird food). For some reason I liked it and made my mom buy it. I think that was a really short-lived era.

It lasts awhile, but occasionally, I do like chocolate milk. My wife sprinkles it on vanilla ice cream, or uses it to make caffé mocha.

My first week of classes at University was 40 years ago last week.

Man, when it got to "15 years later," I felt pretty old.

Further proof I'm old...I skipped a concert (Mclusky) last night that I bought a ticket for back in April. Just couldn't work up the energy for a late night at a punk show on a Tuesday night. Sold the ticket on Stubhub, so at least someone used it.

I think that Covid really broke the "I can stay out late on a school night" part of my brain.

If it makes you feel younger, I haven’t been to a concert in probably 16 years.

ETA: just remembered, when my wife worked for an insurance company, she managed the relationship for the naming rights of an arena, so we got backstage passes to see teen heart throb Austin Mahone in 2015. According to Google the opening acts were something called Pia Mia and Jacquie Lee. My daughter was 6, so she was enthralled with the show, but man was it horrible. He was the flavor of the month wannabe Bieber. Kid was actually really nice and great with my daughter, but I just couldn’t help thinking I’ve seen this same act by 30 different names, and this poor kid has no idea how badly this ends for him.

I’m probably seeing more concerts this year than I have in years. The secret is being retired, so I have no imperative to get up any earlier the next morning than I so desire.

Went to see the Amish Outlaws in Dewey this July. The went on at 9. It felt like 1am. I didn't last the entire set. That was on a Sunday (funday) and it took me until Wed to feel "right" again.

One of my last concerts was seeing one of my all-time favorite bands The Stranglers ten years ago. Their original drummer left the tour just as it started because at 70, he just couldn't keep up. Still, a great show that featured guys with canes doing a seniors' version of slam dancing.

My wife and I were doing that "we are now closer to ___ than to___" thing and I realized that I was a freshman at university 40 years ago.

That - more than the fact that I take statins, blood thinners and ACE inhibitors - made me want to just lay down.

It’s a depressing game. If you go back the number of years to my high school graduation, then go back that many years again, you get to the Herbert Hoover administration. Woo hoo.
