I only got Bobby Wagner cause of his pass interference last night. Other one I knew was Richard Sherman but was scared of it being too popular.

The only true serve and volleyers I can think that have won the French are Navratilova and Laver.
and possibly Yannick Noah, that last frenchman to win anything.

I've actually never seen her play except in random highlights. Didn't realize she was an S&V.

SL beat me on most questions, but a couple missed answers made all the difference. Thank you, Vince Vaughan and Duluth!

Swampcrash provides a few occasions where the knowledge of an old person is an advantage.

In theory, yes. But you have to remember what you know.

Ryan, where in Canada is south of the center of Toledo and Chicago? I thought the southernmost point would be some island off Pt. Pelee in Lake Erie. As a local, I thought that there weren't any quite that far south. I have no doubt you are right; I'm asking in order to learn something.

there are very few things that give me more pleasure than sitting down with stiff drink on a friday evening in (meteorological) fall, going to the swamp, and seeing the swampcrash results unfurl before me. i don't even give a shit about the results. good game pdx.

and thanks, ryan. to do this for 17 weeks is a herculean effort that doesn't go unnoticed.

Point Pelee is in fact the southernmost point in Canada.

I'll get back to you on this when I'm at an actual computer but yes it was a Lake Erie island. Toledo was very close, but the coordinates I downloaded were just barely north. Chicago a little more certain. Something like 12 states are entirely north of that point.

Sure enough, when I magnified the area around Peelee Island, there it was to the south -- a tiny spot of an island on the Canadian side. It's called Middle Island, and, per Wiki, it's the southernmost point -- all of 46 acres -- of land in Canada. That's news to me; I live in the area and I've never even seen it on a map.

Eyeballing a google map suggests that the southernmost point of Middle Island is about the same latitude as the dip in I-475 in north-central Toledo. That would make the geographic center of Toledo a bit to the south of the Island, at least to my eyes. Approaching this another way, Wiki appears to state that Toledo is 57" seconds (1.09 miles?) south of the tip of Middle Island. But it doesn't say what specific spot in Toledo is being referred to.

Diamond, it was fun to be matched up with a master of the game. I thought I had pretty good answers. Apart from hockey and acting, of course. And football stadiums and the last Superbowl and ... But comparing mine to yours on question after question showed me how much I was missing.

This was fun. Thanks Ryan.

As of the answering of these questions, Tulane had yet to play in their shitty outdoor stadium. Just saying.

If I knew they were building a new stadium, I wouldn't even have proposed the question since it could have definitely "tricked" people and that wasn't the intent of the question. Though Ryan's right. As the question was constructed the new outdoor stadium would have to be consider their primary home field.
