Just got done watching it. Holy hell US is deep with attacking flair all of a sudden. Nice win in all respects.
Re: World Cup 2022 - Qatar
- the team being able to play loose and unafraid of the consequences of losing helped
- Pulisic being match fit and in decent form for his club helped. Not sure if that explains Aaronson or Weah
- Not everything was great: the left side of the defense is scary with Jedi and Long, and god forbid if something happens to Jedi.

Yeah, I was at a DCU friendly and watched the game after I got home. There were some issues with the center backs and that position is going to be our downfall in Qatar if things don't shore up.
But, yeah, that was Morocco's A team, and we pretty much dusted them without Gio, Weston and Serginho... This team is stacked in terms of our midfield.

African teams are crap. So happy we drew Morocco. You guys are in tough drawing Iran and Ukraine(?) when you could have drawn one of the 5 African teams. Perhaps only Senegal is competitive.Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 9:25 am Yeah, I was at a DCU friendly and watched the game after I got home. Oh good was worried the CSA had gone too long without clown show hijinks.

Can we take that to mean you do not agree with their assessment of how they are compensated?

CSAs been incompetent my entire life. And now they are gifted a world cup spot and prize money and they will pay 10%?

Re: World Cup 2022 - Qatar
For comparison’s sake, under the new CBA, the USMNT and USWNT are collectively getting 90% of the prize money for Qatar and the next WWC, and 80% of the prize money in the next cycle.

Re: World Cup 2022 - Qatar
Already talking to Bazza about a long weekend in NYC for the Monday night game vs the USA on 21/11/2022. No more hotels in Doha, so may as well come to the US...

Do it! I’ll take the week off and go on a bender. I’m not castrating myself of the US win though.

Is this a whoosh moment or did either myself or Bazza offer to remove a nut if Wales qualified for the WC finals? The Sybian wrote: ↑Sun Jun 05, 2022 3:21 pmDo it! I’ll take the week off and go on a bender. I’m not castrating myself of the US win though.

Crazy. So first the match was against Iran but people protested so that got scrapped and Panama was the replacement and now Canada won't take the field.

Obviously the CSA are incompetent. Now, they don't even seem to control all of their own income.

I am completely aware of this, however the angle of giving Scotland some was there and I took a swing at it...

I was giving him a lot of shit until I realized... While the color didn't work out well on TV, I think he was wearing orange in solidarity with the gun control awareness stuff that's going on right now.

I renamed him nipples at the little gathering I was at and it was very satisfying.

Re: World Cup 2022 - Qatar
The only way I have a problem with Arriola is if hes pushing 2026 starters off the roster. Not sure im ready to but Busio/Scally in that camp yet. This team is good but not that good. At some point theyll have to muck it up to get a result.

And, tb, your earlier sentiment about the skill of our attacking players is exactly what we were on about, as well. It's pretty incredible to be in a situation where you without two of the most skilled players in our pool (Dest and Reyna) and we are still that skilled/dangerous going forward.
And if we ditch the idea of needing to play a big plodding guy up top and just let that guy be a terror with speed and interchanging with the midfield and wingers... It's incredibly difficult to defend that.
By far my biggest concern for this squad is centerback. Zimmerman seems pretty solid, but who lines up with him is a huge question mark right now.

Unless you mean muck it up by fucking sucking, I don't see how he helps in an ugly game either.

Who do we need to send the petition to? Why are we trying to do that when we can just hit opponents with waves of pace and skill instead?Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 9:20 am And, tb, your earlier sentiment about the skill of our attacking players is exactly what we were on about, as well. Re: World Cup 2022 - Qatar
Uhhh muck it up by defending with physicality, desire, work. He and other bench players do that better than a bunch of starters. Theyre not going to outclass anyone after the group if they get there.

Re: World Cup 2022 - Qatar
I love Arriola's grit and hustle, but he is so far off talent-wise, and we have so much talent at wing right now. The only time Arriola should see the field is if we are winning late in a game and it's getting chippy. Let him run at defenders with the ball and apply pressure and a hard foul while trying to win the ball. Or hold the ball in the corner and take a couple kicks to the shin to win a free kick. He can have some success against the minnows of CONCACAF, but that's it.
CB is looking sketchy if Miles Robinson isn't back. Even if he is, he'll be just returning and probably not up to speed. Long was looking pretty good before his injury, maybe with some time he gets back into form, but right now, he doesn't look good enough. I'd like to see Brooks back in the mix, I think this squad needs some experience, but maybe he truly is a locker room cancer, I can't really criticize Gregg there, but you have to wonder.

Re: World Cup 2022 - Qatar
Agree in concept but some opponents wont let you get waves forward easily. Sometimes you will need to relieve pressure in the back with long balls and hold up. Someone will need to turn a 1/2 chance into if theyre not dominant on the ball. To me, getting McKinnie in the air in the box is the answer but you have to do that without leaving Adams alone with CBs to put out counters. Dest and Robinson dont have that in their DNA. And you want them running anyway.tennbengal wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 10:02 amWho do we need to send the petition to?
