I am not but I will definitely bring him up on Spotify.

It's not quite as pimpin' as Vile, but his work is the soundtrack for ethereal moments in Big Sky country. Of course, he's from Brooklyn.

Scored pit seats for both Phish shows in Columbia, MD this summer.

Well, Queensryche just finished their set. Judas Priest is up next.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Thought this was a reference to Rob Halford’s age. But he’s 70 now.

My first post-pandemic show will be a First Thursdays Event at the Canton Waterfront (May 5th). Parquet Courts are headlining.

The Goon Sax is opening too, which is a pretty damn good band for a "third" band on a bill like this.

Definitely. I mean, they've had national acts in the past, but me thinks this is a case where every band under the sun is looking for (warm-up) gigs to get out onto the road.

I saw Craig Finn there when I joined my wife on a work trip a few years ago.

Yeah he's played it a couple times over the years. Actually The Hold Steady headlined one month like 8 or 9 years ago.

None of those dates work for me. Fuckers.

Re: The Live Music thread...
Makes perfect sense, but disappointed nonetheless as this was going to be my first post-pandemic concert.
How do you all get your death notices since I left?
Re: The Live Music thread...
They're playing Ommegang Brewery up in Cooperstown July 20th.
Woah.

Re: The Live Music thread...
I'd looooooove to catch them in Portland again + Japanese Breakfast but that seems like it would be too hard to pull off w/out kids. We're looking at Harrisburg/Boston/Cooperstown in some order. Avoiding festivals for sure.

Harrisburg seems to be the only one that's remotely an option for us.

We're eyeballing Cooperstown, and then the next night Courtney Barnett in NYC (Radio City Music Hall).
Dunno.

There's definitely a few CB shows that are appealing to me.

I could see doing this if he was a fan of a school like Saint Peter's. But Duke? They make the Final Four every fucking year.

Re: The Live Music thread...
And we're in. Was much more worried about getting these since we really wanted a specific venue versus still trying to figure where we want to see The National.

Re: The Live Music thread...
Saw Animal Collective at Mr. Small's a couple of weeks ago. Committed late, didn't buy a ticket until the week of the show. I haven't loved any of their albums in over a decade, but I still love those guys. I would have been angry at myself if I had stayed home.
Different feel than their earlier shows. Slower, more subdued, quieter. A lot of 'mood pieces,' including a few new/unreleased songs that are pretty great. Also surprised at how they structure their shows now, with each song bleeding into the next with very few breaks/banter. It's almost Ramones-esque. (I didn't check my pocket watch, but I think their set lasted a bit longer than 33 minutes, tho.)
Wonderful night. My first concert since The Troubles began. I think my last concert was Fozzy back in 2018 or so.

Not only that, but he sat on a venue’s primetime Saturday night slot for months until he chose to dishonor his commitment.Steve of phpBB wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 1:29 pm I could see doing this if he was a fan of a school like Saint Peter's. But Duke? They make the Final Four every fucking year.

And people are PISSED! Don't know anything about the guy, or his music (he looks like a classic bro-country type), but if I had made plans to go to a big concert for a Saturday night, and was coming in from out of town, and he cancelled for a basketball game, I'd be livid.EnochRoot wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2022 10:55 amNot only that, but he sat on a venue’s primetime Saturday night slot for months until he chose to dishonor his commitment.Steve of phpBB wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 1:29 pm I could see doing this if he was a fan of a school like Saint Peter's. Not to mention all the venue workers who all of a sudden won't be getting paid for that event.
And, I hate to say this (because Duke), but it would be Karmic justice if UNC got absolutely pasted by 20 points in this game.

Re: The Live Music thread...
Church is better than most and while some songs definitely fit into bro country it's not his main bag. And he does put on a hell of a show. But should not have canceled at all. shoot, ask if you can move it to earlier in the day!
Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.

Re: The Live Music thread...
As stated earlier, I'm a huge Chris Jericho mark. And I have a friend who's a lapsed wrestling fan who loves Jericho as much as I do. So when Fozzy rolled thru town a few years ago, we decided to go even tho we had never listened to them. And we had a great time!
The music is what it is -- loud rock that all sort of blends together. But seeing Jericho perform in a different setting was a lot of fun.
(I realize that he's a problematic/divisive figure these days, but that doesn't change how much I've enjoyed watching him over the years.)

They're releasing a 10 yr anniversary vinyl edition of FEFA.
Agreed on both counts, BI puts on a great show, and that set list leaves me wanting.
