I've been meaning to post this for awhile, but Chris Cuthbert is a horseshit broadcaster. He's done every San Jose/Nashville game this series, and I am so tired of him.

Is Predator's Johansen annoying because he is good (that was a nice goal to tie 2-2) or is he kinda a dick?
Who knows? Maybe, you were kidnapped, tied up, taken away and held for ransom.

He's a very good young player. Wish he was on the Sharks. IMHO, the annoying dicks on that team are Gaustad and Weber.howard wrote:Is Predator's Johansen annoying because he is good (that was a nice goal to tie 2-2) or is he kinda a dick?

Totally, but a league that refuses to say "head contact is universally illegal" pretending a mid-air swat is intentionally delaying the game in the same way firing one over the boards when in trouble is silly.
Re: The OFFICIAL 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
Well, Letang and the Pens got that two minutes the old fashioned way. Oshie got blowed up real good.

Re: The OFFICIAL 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
Murray is a decent enough goalie, but for a lot of this series the Caps shot a gazillion into his pads. Sheer volume is not going to beat an NHL goalie, hot streak or not.
And for as much as the line of Kessel, Bonino and Hagelin was buzzing around, the Caps certainly shut down the rest of the team enough to have grabbed at least one if not two of the earlier games. But they just waited too long in almost every game to truly pick up the intensity. They just didn't match that until they were in a hole in most of these games.
Final nail in the coffin was the young guys emulating the Young Guns from days gone by... Kusnetsov in particular - led the team in points in the regular, had 2 points in 12 games in the playoffs. Reminded me a LOT of Semin... In the regular season, teams are going to allow you the space/time to swoop around and peel behind the back of the net for 30 seconds. In the playoffs, they are going to crosscheck the fuck out of you after one cutback and it's not getting called. And I'm not bitching -- that's the way it has ALWAYS been.

If the Stars win tonight the Flames get a first round pick.
Which means they will lose

fucking two "star" goalies does not equal an elite goalie like Elliot. he's on his game. hopefully the Sharks win tomorrow, because otherwise I'm out for the rest of the playoffs. didn't have a problem with no canadian teams. but i will have a problem if no teams are left that i care about. fuck the blues! and fuck tampa and pittsburgh. fuck.sancarlos wrote:These Dallas goalies can't stop a beach ball tonight.

Even a black guy scored. I didn't know Ward played a season for the Preds.
edit: three seasons with Nashville.

Sharks looks great. They really should have won this series in 5. That triple overtime game was stupid.
Can the Sharks get over the hump and make that Stanley Cup Final. 4th conference final since 2004. Lost the previous 3.
I'm cheering for Marleau. Great guy who's seen everything in San Jose.

I'm excited about the Sharks. St. Louis is going to be tough, though.
Funny thing, my wife is from near St. Louis and roots for their teams (although she's not really much of a sports fan), so my daughter just informed her that she can't go to any games this series. "Just dad and me", she said.

Re: The OFFICIAL 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
hahahaha that's awesome.
I was looking ahead to the schedule and all games going forward will be a night. That seems weird from the NHL who shows games on NBC all season on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and now wont have it anymore for the most important games. What happens to the hockey fan who watched NBC afternoon games all year and cant watch in the evenings (work, kids commitments, takes wife out, wife controls primetime tv etc..). They've lost that guy.

Pittsburgh
Pros: Hagelin. Kessel, unless they win and Kessel has a 2-0-2 series and one of the goals is the type where people say it doesn't count because they were already up two or something.
Cons: "MAF has won two Cups," says Rass the Idiot. The Penguins, as a franchise and individual players, are dicks.
Tampa Bay
Pros: Boyle (4ever), Callahan. Would be funny if not playing while winning a Cup helps Stamkos walk away even easier.
Cons: Seems stupid to be allowed to dick around Drouin like that then have him help you win. For a kinda fun to watch team, their actual players are boring as fuck.
St. Louis
Pros: Would be fun to see Caps fans deal with "Oshie might be a "better player", but Brouwer proved himself a winner and that's what they're missing" stuff.
Cons: I'm hinging a lot of my offseason Rangers' plans on St. Louis "needing" to make changes with said changes being "trading for Rick Nash".
San Jose
Pros: Thornton + Marleau. Would be fun to see Caps fans deal with "it might have been an objectively "bad contract", but Ward proved himself a winner and that's what they're missing" stuff.
Cons: Similar to Tampa Bay, management did everything they could to fuck this up and weren't allowed to and now its working.

Good stuff, D. But, on the Pro side, you forgot to include "how happy sancarlos would be if his team won the Stanley Cup right after his other team won the Super Bowl, and we'd all be super-happy for him!".

Re: The OFFICIAL 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
Perhaps I'm reaching but I think sports watching is a habit. On Saturday mornings I get up at 8am to watch the EPL doubleheader. If they suddenly midseason switched to Saturday night games in England I couldn't watch because I'm usually busy Saturday afternoons-evenings. Or even during MLB season I watch the Jays at 5pm every night. I walk in the door and turn it on at 5pm. If they play at a different time (like on the west coast) it throws me off. I like to be working on the computer at 8pm and in bed by 10pm. (and yes when my wife comes over, this may change.)Ryan wrote:Are you sure that guy has all the time in the world on the weekend? So the hockey guy who only has NBC and watches the 1pm ET NHL game every weekend. There is no longer hockey in that time slot for him.
I make the same complaint about the World Series first pitch at 8:40pm.

Re: The OFFICIAL 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
Right, but what about the hockey guy who only has NBC but works a day shift on Saturdays and never gets to see that prime time game but now gets to see the night game?

Yeah... Not sure "I watch sports on Saturday" guy is really a thing. Football on Sunday's, for a married guy is a thing... to a point.
But Saturday, that's just a difficult sell. Especially if you have kids. That shit ain't gonna fly.

Re: The OFFICIAL 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread
It's great that the Sharks are advancing, but not great for my wallet. My seats are on the blue line in the 1st row in the upper of the two decks. Great seats that look right down on the ice. $96 per seat during the regular season. Same price for first round of the playoffs. Then, it went up to $144 per seat for the second round. Now, it goes up to $216 per seat for the conference finals. If they make the Cup finals, my tickets will be $288 per seat. I'll pay it, but it is getting expensive.
