Technically you’re both right. Without the ownership they don’t invest in NYCFC and I never become a City fan due to existing connection.

Anyway I’d love to hear everyone else’s origin stories on how they happened to pick clubs that aren’t perpetually in League One!

I show interest in Arsenal every 3 weeks or so thanks to Nick Hornby and my never ending chase for Syb’s approval.

I'm a United fan and think that's bullshit.
That's who was a City fan until the massive influx of cash. But as a Yankees fan, I guess D he's used to his teams simply outspending others for trophies.
No... there were at least 15 City fans in North America before the Sheikhs stepped in.

I liked City back when Reyna was there and they were a mid table team

Just asked my Liverpool supporting friend (the one I'm headed over to the game with) if there's a commandment about coveting your neighbor's football team's manager.

Chelsea - Man U game was frustrating. Felt like Chelsea could have won 4-0, but got a 1-1 tie.

I'm assuming its in part because of Rog and in part because they hate Liverpool, but I find myself really rooting hard for Everton to stay up.

Yet another frustrating outcome for Chelsea. Dominated the ball, had more chances, lost. Having Lampard on the sidelines was fitting, because that's very much what Lampard's tenure as Chelsea manager was like.

I mentioned the other day that the bogus penalty given to Arsenal was the first mistake by Azpilicueta that led to a goal in his Chelsea career. Well, he earned #2 today!

Same here, but also because I really liked Everton back in the Howard/Cahill/Pienaar days, then Landon joined on loan. Just can’t picture an Evertonkess EPL

I agree BUT think I would rather see Leeds hang on.

Spurs are finished - no way they get anything at Anfield and Arsenal has Leeds (h), Newcastle (a) and Everton (h) (as well as Spurs (a))

Spurs have Liverpool (a), Arsenal (h), Burnley (h) and Norwich (a) - best scenario is 9 points

Down 2 points, I just don't see it happening. Losses to Burnley, Brighton and a putrid draw at Brentford will doom them to the Europa league.

Arsenal are shaky though. I don't have much faith. I'm kind of rooting for Arsenal and Tottenham to both overtake Chelsea, just for the comedic value.

Assuming Rog is the #1 bridge to soccer for a lot of Americans, I wonder if relegation would end up being a good thing for fans here to see.

I think it could provide an interesting window if MiB start following the Championship, but more likely American Everton fans lose interest in the club or jump ship. I’d guess there is a disproportionately large number of American Everton fans because of Rog and Tim Howard.

Rog did say he doesn’t have time to cover another league, but he says a lot of things in the moment he doesn’t commit to.

I was debating whether this is good or bad for Arsenal. In one sense, I'd hate to face a cornered animal fighting to stay up, but on the flip side, they'll be more relaxed and having fun. Then I remembered Tottenham is playing Norwich, so it's already over. Congrats to Everton, I couldn't imagine them getting relegated and now we don't have to put Roger Bennett on suicide watch.

Relegation battle for spot number 17 ought to be interesting as Burnley and Leeds play similarly profiled opponents. Neither with anything to play for as far as I'm aware (Brentford and Newcastle I mean).

I assume the players don't care much, but at the most drastic outcomes there's like £10MM at stake in terms of table position for both.

Good point though I doubt the players care (beyond the normal pride of a professional athlete).
