I am old enough to know the blasphemy I speak. Gretzky looked like he was playing some different version of hockey. I get the same feeling watching Haaland scoring goals in one of the best leagues in the world like he's playing against U-16 players.

Gretzky really did seem that way. He and Jordan are the exemplars of that level of greatness. And Gretzky was even better in terms of the rest of his league than Jordan was.

I was trying to think of other players in my lifetime who were that much better than the rest of their league for a prolonged period of time, and there's no one. Sometimes a pitcher becomes completely unhittable, but that doesn't go on for over a decade.

Boy oh boy I just don't know that I believe Jordan was ever anywhere close to the Gretzky/Ruth/Haaland??? level of lapping the field.

I think in the 90s he definitely could be considered that. Except when playing the Rockets of course.

Pairing Haaland with KDB is unfair. And now Haaland looks like he's gotten more comfortable with his new team...his assist to Foden was fantastic.

What Haaland is doing is incredible, but come on. He's played less than 25% of one season. And numbers in sports like hockey and soccer will always be impressive in relation to others due to the relatively low scores. Nobody scores all the points in a basketball game and NBA teams don't triple up their opponents no matter how lopsided the game is.

If Haaland were a team, he'd be T-6th in the league in goals for.

If he scored the same number of goals in the Bundesiliga, everybody would say it's because he is playing in an inferior league. Moving into the EPL and immediately making this big of an impact is what impresses me so much. It takes most big-name superstars time to adjust to playing in the EPL. Sure, he is getting great service, but half of his goals, I don't think any other player scores.

Maybe but he didn't even lead the bundesliga in goals so I'd say the team is what makes him this dominant.

Jesus has been fantastic, no complaints there. He fit in instantly, netting on one of his first touches in pre-season and makes the players around him better. Plus he seems to bring a joy to everyone's game.

Chelsea was very lucky not to be down a couple of goals at the half against Aston Villa today. Instead, a horrible clearance by Miggs gifted Mount a goal and Kepa made several great saves to put Chelsea up 1-0. Potter had started an odd lineup, probably due to the busy calendar and several injuries (Kante, James, Fofana at least). But credit to him, he saw the issue and made some halftime substitutions and the second half was much better.

Four straight clean sheets and multi-goal wins for the Blues. It's coming together.

As thorough a destruction as 2-0 can be. Lloris was definitely Spurs' man of the Match - first goal was a nasty deflection and he made 5-6 great saves. And Spurs defenders played well, but their midfield was completely overrun.
