Funny. We all acknowledge that vaccination status probably played a part in Cam's getting cut. And, of course, it makes sense that a coach would consider that factor, given the possibility that it could affect games. But, apparently that is technically against the rules, as the NFLPA made a stink yesterday when Urban Meyer acknowledged that vaccination status played a part in his decisions on whom to cut.

Gotta be the least effective, worst union in sports.

I think that depends, right? If a forfeit or even close contact concerns are enough to lose a game, you have to wonder how many players Belichick or other coaches would put a full win of value on, right?
Belichick seems fully committed to not having valuable players so I can't see too many outside of the OL that he'd hesitate to cut.

I don't know if it's the union being bad or that the owners have assembled so much power over the years that it's completely imbalanced.

The new practice squad rules kind of change up cuts. Tons of spots and you can stash vets. If you have guys like Hoyer in your pocket you can basically open 3-4 more spots on your roster at cut downs. Also being able to protect guys on the practice squad is massive. You can really stash guys away. Then the IR spots that you can come off and on during season is a big deal too. IT becomes a stash spot too without worry about missing season or 6 games. Teams shouldn't really have to cut guys they like anymore.

Teams are permitted to:

Have practice squads that are up to 16 players, including up to six that have more than two accrued seasons;
Protect up to four practice squad players per week from being signed by other teams;
Elevate up to two practice squad players to the active roster, without removing any current players, before 4 p.m. ET the day before a game. You can do this twice with a player before they are subjected to waivers;
Can elevate one additional practice squad player within 90 minutes before kickoff in COVID-19 situation;
Reinstate players on in-season injured reserve after three weeks, with no limit on the number times they can do it.

Yeah, I'm probably going to be following the Cardinals this year. But really I've been fantasy-centric for the last several seasons, so I'm really not feeling like I'm missing out on much.

I'm gonna enjoy being able to root for the Lions again. I know what Giff is going through. I just couldn't really get into being a fan while Patricia was coaching them. The Lions are gonna suck this year but at least they won't have an asshole/rapist as head coach.

As far as Cam goes, I think there was something that happened between the Giants game and when he was released. There's usually the glowing tweet or press release and there wasn't in this case.

Personally, if Cam wasn't starting (and I only had him as the starter to maybe after the TB game) I'd rather not have him as the backup, even if Hoyer/Stidham suck, as Cam was evidently really popular in the locker room and still had some vets on his side. Releasing him gets rid of that distraction and for better or worse it's Mac's team going forward.

ETA: Well looks like BB gave his glowing review (He gave us everything he had) this AM in an interview.

Beg to differ.

(He may be an asshole IRL, but so far he seems pretty genuine and pretty cool to me. The guy is the most ripped coach in the NFL and has two teacup Yorkies, how big of an asshole can he be?)

How about, that was Tom Brady's 50th (possibly) career game winning drive?

Right. It’s not too obscure at all. Actually, its obscurity proves the uniqueness of the point the tweet made: when you screw up that badly, you don’t win games.

It would help to know how many games this has occurred in. And really, they effectively lost the turnover margin by 2.

In the history of the NFL? Probably several hundred times.
