Tell me you don’t have the volume up without telling me you don’t have the volume up.
So that's an MLB player wearing his own jersey to cheer on former teammates?

Soto was wearing Turner's old Nats jersey

And the MPH/K-zone graphic was there in the first inning. And they've used it for replays. No idea why they dumped it.

I missed the game but was that future Hall of Fame catcher Yadier Molina who gave up two SBs last night?

That's really heads up, but someone's gotta be awake for that. Call timeout, step off, whatever. Arozarena made it look easy.

Really feels like that should have been a double with a base awarded for the Sox player causing the ball (unintentionally) to go out of the field.

it's absolutely brutal that the Braves and Brewers don't know what time they're playing tomorrow until this game is over (after midnight ET)

as I understand it, they get shafted with the 1 p.m. ET start if the White Sox win, but if the Astros sweep, they're the 4 ET. So that's even worse than a 4/7 given how soon it is. Legitimately could find out 12 hours before first pitch if this game goes extras or slows down.

I would love to know what data the Rays had that showed that pitching to Hernandez was the right decision vs. walking him to set up the force anywhere and the double play. feels hard to comprehend that the Rays would truly let "well Devers is 3-for-4 tonight and we'll pretend that Hernandez hasn't been the best hitter this series" overrule the situational advantages that a walk presents given the tie game.

Sample size of one is too small but four is enough? Besides the R vs R thing (with Feyereisen having big splits), Devers is an infinitely better hitter then Bogaerts on deck even better than him.

so you'd try to get Hernandez out, walk Devers and then pitch to Bogaerts?

Devers and Bogaerts when they know you can't walk them doesn't sound like the best option, but there weren't any good ones anyway.

Regardless of the options you have to pitch to Hernandez, yes. As for walking Devers ... eh? If it was Feyereisen's game to win or lose I'd probably be too worried he'd unintentionally walk Boegarts to IBB Devers but that would probably be the "right" play there? I'm sure McClanahan's implosion completely fucked their bullpen plans well beyond even contingency stuff so they were going to be in a mess either way.

yes, and only one lefty in the pen to start the series affects the scenario too

but I don't understand why you don't want to give yourself more out options when the series-winning run is on third. I realize it's damned if you do damned if you don't. but presenting yourself with the most out options when an out is the most likely scenario of any hitter's at-bat seems the best way to operate

Way to cheer the now-tying run making it to first! Sure had he made an out instead, the go-ahead run wouldn't have been right behind him. And two more guys still on base! But cheering a guy who wasn't even part of the banging of the cans getting beaned is way more fun!

Not when you're also creating a brand new path to losing with a pitcher who walked one of every seven hitters in the regular season?

If a foul ball hits the catcher directly in the dick, everyone should treat it like the inning ending. Go to the dugouts and a commercial break and then come back and resume play from where it left off without commentary.

MLB doesn't really do player of the game, but Luis Urias should already have it locked up for his defense at 3B.

(I imagine his metrics wouldn't even be that great since the last play was good but one that "has to be made" and the other two were rough hops (which I assume aren't measured) in massive situations.)
