Man I got all day for the lady curler on Italy’s mixed doubles team. Olympics hasn’t even started yet and I got my curling crush. If you go the other way, the fella is good looking too.

We were obsessed with a girl in the 1995 Scotties Tournament of Hearts (Women's National Championship in Canada). She was a student at some Canadian University, a couple years older than us. Tried to figure out her name, curious if she turned into a Curling star since she was on the Provincial Champions team at 21 or 22 yo.

Any idea what team/ province? I could do some digging.
Are you sure it was 95? That Scotties was held her in Calgary. Was it maybe PEI?

I was smitten over a woman on the Canada team of 2010. If I recall right, she was near the end of her career. Could be the same one.

That's Cheryl Bernard. She does tv now. And no she wasn't in the 95 tournament and she would have been 30.

Watched the "prime time" coverage last and... hoo boy... the Western Guilt was incredible to behold. Of the 1 hour I watched prior to Swamply Connect, I'd say a solid 20 minutes was devoted to breaking down China's human rights violations and why everyone should be torn about even having these games in China. Which, yeah, sure...

But they sure don't get into WHY no one else from Europe or elsewhere wanted to put a real bid in for these games, which is that the IOC is a corrupt band of shitheads and reasonable countries (like Denmark) told them to fuck the fuck off.

Like... We can sling arrows at a massive, emerging world power, but god forbid we even hint that the IOC has just as many institutional issues they never really get called out on.

Curling
[+] spoiler
Stephania and what’s his face are 8-0 with just the Canadians left to play in the opening round.

Enjoyed the women’s slopestyle coverage last night. The way they all celebrated together at the end was neat.

strategy question for anyone who watched the shockingly compelling Canada v Australia mixed match earlier...:

why in the 8th end did Australia go for the takeout/hit and roll rather than just trying to finesse their final rock onto or anywhere near the button? It seems/seemed to me an easier play with a wide open house and they ended up kinda/sorta fking it up (temporarily....) and giving the point. I felt like I was missing something obvious.

You cant lose going for the hit. Worse case you roll out and keep hammer going to an extra end as happened.
If you draw and it goes short or long, you can give up 2 and lose.

The draw is the easier shot for pros but she played to not lose at that moment.

Because of that loss to Australia, it's do or die coming up. They must beat undefeated Italy to make the semis. Lose and Sweden are in. Italy, GB, and Norway are already in.
