As long as he’s alive, he’s still going to be our 2B in 2035.

Kicking around the idea of heading out to SF to catch that O's series at the start of June.

Crap will come up and we'll downshift into some random AAA town in the Ozarks.

Last night, Padres down 4-0 in the 8th. 7th and 8th hitters get on. Melvin asks the 9th batter Azocar to sacrifice.

Reasoning: I wanted my best guys Bogaarts, Soto and Machado up with runners on 2nd and 3rd.
Bogaarts hit a sac fly and Soto struck out. Padres lost 4-1.

It's a little strange that every single MLB game but one is being played in the daytime on a Wednesday, right? On a day with a full slate of games?

It's...weird.

I was thinking the travel days.

I really think that MLB Should consider having at least one game every weekday have first pitch around 3 pm to 4:30 EST. Just to allow people to fuck off work early as so many people now wfh.

On the occasions I go to a game, it’s almost always on a Wednesday afternoon. It’s usually getaway day on the last day of a series, so lots of day games on Wednesdays.

Yeah, I get it, travel days etc. Just beyond weird to seen literally the ENTIRE SLATE of games save 1 set for daytime on a Wednesday.

Not super unusual for this time of year. They usually don’t schedule ANY night games in northern cities (without domes) until later in April.

O’s do what’s called “business man specials” a few times a year and start games on a weekday at 12:30 pm. BTW, if any local frogs would want to hit up one of these, I’m in. Last time we all went to a game a hellacious El Derecho blew through.

The AA team in Bowie will have occasionally have games at 10 am on getaway days where they have long bus rides.

ETA- 4/13 vs Oakland or 4/26 vs Boston at 1:05 pm are the April matinees.

I love those. Today was the Astros first one and if I didn’t need to be home to get the youngest off the bus, I would have been there.

I predict the As announce their move to Vegas by the All-Star Break.

Not sure where they’ll build the permanent location (my guess is the current Rio site with some kind of people mover across I-15 on Flamingo) but they’ll temporarily expand Las Vegas Ballpark to accommodate 18,000 for 2024 and 2025 while it’s being built.

It’s too bad but the market is probably better for one team.

And I’ll go on record that there are probably better markets than Vegas for MLB (NBA is a different story). Montreal, Portland and Charlotte are probably all better.

Incredible start by the Rays, 8-0 all wins by at least 4 runs. We were talking about the Tigers 35-5 start in 84, this is heading there.

That season is my only really great experience as a Tiger fan. Other seasons were OK but it’s different when you win the WS. That Tigers team started 9-0 IIRC.

Tuesday Craig Counsell becomes the longest manager in Brewers history (1,181).

Fun Facts
* Counsell is the only player to come to bat in the bottom of the ninth inning of a Game 7 with the winning run on base — twice. Both times, he extended a rally and his teams went on to win.
* As a boy, he helped out at old County Stadium, sorting Robin Yount’s fan mail and operating the speed-pitch booth

I like that he battled and never gave in to try and throw heat by hitters. His off speed stuff disappeared as he got more tired.

McDonald was touching on it a bit. The fact all the hits he gave up were on 0-2 or 1-2 counts, and the # of hitters he got to those same counts 16 of something like 21? Suggests he's not wild enough in the zone. Don't let the hitter focus in on a section of height in the zone. Like I said, he'll figure it out.

I was at the Yards. Weird night from him - the first six hits he allowed he had 2 strike counts on the hitters and could not put them away. And he did strike out 6 otherwise. Not sure what the issue was.

Ah, should have read further. That's interesting.

Also, since my seats were down the RF line I could not see side to side and don't know if he was getting squeezed or not. Top of the zone was not being given from where I was sitting in any event.
