We just reduced ad-free Peacock to ad-full, and then brought on AcornTV.

Aside from the fact we can now tap that Republic of Doyle vein again, I must say that I'm embarrassed I'd never seen Murdoch's Mysteries before now.

Granted, it is a procedural cop drama, but it's historical fiction. 1890s Toronto.

It doesn't take itself too seriously, but it does like to stick to scientific fact. I like it. And there's a crap-ton of episodes to plow through.

It's good stock. Dunno how else to describe it. It does make me wonder though...How many times would they need to reshoot an outdoors chase scene if say, a helicopter got in the way?

Though I'm sure there's a helicopter episode on the way...

If you are a big MCU nerd and you watched the first episode of What If and decided it was pretty meh, the next couple are not just "swap 2 characters and rewatch an existing movie"

*I kind of hope this is a bunch of test pilots and if one of them hits, we get a fleshed out show about it.

I usually barely look at bills that are on auto-pay, but I looked at my AT&T bill to ensure they quit charging me for DirecTV. (I recently cut the cord!) I noticed a blurb that said that HBO Max is included with my AT&T internet plan. I didn't even know.

So, now, I'm going to binge The Other Two (we watched season one on TBS, but didn't have access to season two, since it moved to HBO Max.)

What other HBO Max shows should I check out, now?

For the record, I'm not crazy. Brian Grubb mentioned the Apple product placement in Ted Lasso (and The Morning Show) in his weekly rundown.

It's only a little distracting and if it keeps the show(s) on the air, so be it.

May also be a matter of having too many characters to follow? Nathan seems like a complete asshole - the only mitigating factor is that his father is cold.

Yeah, I'm liking the Nate storyline. He's a guy who has never had respect and then when he got it all the sudden, he didn't really know how to handle it and he took to modeling most of the "leaders" he's seen, including his father. Bad fathers is definitely a theme of the show. And this season has been kind of short of interesting multi-episode storylines (why did they just drop the sponsor issue?), so I think this one is important.

My only note for the Ted Lasso writers is that when Roy Kent asks Phoebe if he can be the dragon, the response should have been “Fuck no” instead of just “no”.

Also, Mike Dean. Wow. Made the episode all about himself.

Just to hit it a little more squarely on the head, almost the entire first season was Nate getting shoved in clothes bins and shit upon. Being bullied for that long fucks you up. So, I'm willing to give the guy a little room to figure out what it's like having a little power in the locker room.

Gotta say - the last episode grated on my nerves. Tartt's drunken father ranting in the dressing room? Ted leaving the locker room to call the Psychiatrist when his team needed some kind of leadership was odd. And the big reveal about Ted's father was irritating. And the whole Sam and Rebecca thing screams "contrived plot device," a way to keep the featured players involved.
Still a good show, but on a bit of a dry patch.

They have a hard job of writing a sports-based show that does not get sucked into the typical genre's of sports-based tv shows. Especially as the underdog team. So they have to find stories outside of the show. Nate is interesting character.
