Well that eliminates Honduras. How do you recover from that? And what a disaster for the USA or Canada.

It's now a race to avoid 4th as there is a 5 point gap between 4th and 5th. Can't see any of the bottom half teams making a run.

We got a “Dos A Cero” chant going here. The bartender loves me though so it’s all cool.

Pretty pretty pretty cool - the US players who toil for Chelsea and Juventus with the goals.

2017 me would not have believed that could be a thing.

Problem with Pulisic in the middle is he gets hacked and beaten up even more. He is also going to pick up injuries, so he needs to be protected. And Twellman is right, he shouldn’t be dancing on the ball up two with a couple minutes left. Those are the plays where he gets injured. That, and jogging onto the pitch after halftime. And brushing his teeth.

Maybe less danger of that if there is so much legit danger around him tho. Dunno. Fun as hell to have legit talent.

Weather and pitch. That turf is embarrassing. It handicapped Canada too but they adapted in the 2nd half. Have no idea how Mexico are going to play on that but I guess that's the point. And it's going to be much colder on Tuesday.

Forget the offense those guys pressured the best team in concacaf basically to their end line and got a shutout. Weah and Musah give them physicality and speed to pull away in 2-3 dribbles when they force turnovers and then guys like Pulisic and McKennie can do their thing. Totally impressed by the pressure given the competition. Back end stood up and goalies stop on Lozano was huge. Adams a constant and options in the back. How can you not be impressed with what Yedlin has done with his career. All that and it's clear they have heart and togetherness. Different level than I've seen so far. All the sudden the kids look to be full grown ballers by next year. And praise when due, coach got it right. So easy to back off a little and hope to find something but they went for broke from the whistle and proved something.

Good points, agree with all of this. Even the giving credit to GGG. Before the game, Roger Bennet wrote that GGG said he was going to play a high paced aggressive full field press and he called the strategy naive and I agreed. GGG said they were athletic and fast enough to pull it off, and he was right.

Croatia has qualified in most ridiculous fashion:

This was a game you had to see to believe. The field was completely waterlogged, Russia would have qualified with a 0-0 draw, and the only way anybody was going to score was, well, like that. The competent refereeing was the only reminder that this was not CONCACAF.
