Did the first 2 episodes of the last Jack Ryan with John K on Amazon. Not remarkable, not terrible. The writer's strike has some angle to AI-written scripts. Well all of these Amazon spy things are formulaic and could have been written by a bot.

Hammering through the Bear.

I’m 6 episodes into Bad Sisters on AppleTV. Irish show about 5 sisters who are very close, and all hate one sister’s husband. Slow reveals about each sister and more levels of how horrible The Prick is. It’s unusual, and I’m liking its.

Watched that one pretty close to when it came out. Enjoyed it. Loved the scenery, as well.

I’m sure this would be a very nice scene between Jaime Tartt and his mom if I could pay attention to it especially due to that one over her shoulder camera angle.

Wife and I watched the first episode of "Mrs Davis" last night.

Liked it - a bit too self-consciously bizarre, but nice to see something different.

I was pretty genuinely annoyed by some of what happened in Lasso season 2, enough so that it put me off season 3 even while we watched (along with headlines from reviews as we slowly caught up) but I think overall I really liked season 3. And the ending was pretty great.

Sunny has been pretty hysterical this season.

Dennis’ reaction to Dee and Mack’s reaction to the Dennis/Sinned thing had me in tears.

I’m already a little perturbed that the “church” is supposedly outside Reno, but looks nothing like Reno.

Ha ha. Lots of shows set in a San Francisco that looks suspiciously like Los Angeles.

Exactly. If it was important to the story (I’m 4 eps in and doesn’t appear to be) that would be one thing but there’s no reason it can’t be set where it was filmed (apparently Mojave Desert, guessing a couple hours outside of LA if I had to bet)

50% of all movies set in Chicago are filmed in Toronto.

Fuck, I was crushing on Becka, great combination of adorable and sexy. Now I can’t stop seeing the resemblance to Bono.

Vancouver = "Hollywood North"

low-level Vancouver grumbling when i lived there was how many major movies and tv shows were filmed there then they'd green-screen in an entire skyline of e.g. NYC or Seattle.

Funny that Station Eleven in the book was set in Toronto, but HBO moved it to Chicago.

Y'all should check out the Hallmark thread. EVERYTHING is filmed up there, to the point that they try to pass off the Pac NW as MD, VT, ME, NC etc. It's pretty funny.

(I also had a lot of annoyance over that dumb Outer Banks show. Anyone that's been there knows that show was shot in South Carolina.)

Just finished S1 of The Bear. Starting up S2 now.

Very rollercoaster-y. I think my eyes watered a few times cuz of all the damn onions they were cutting all season.

Oh, my wife likes to drill down and follow a bunch of people or sites that track our favorite shows.

Apparently, the reason this season's cast as so many baller cameos is that it's a Hollywood favorite and people are begging for roles. I won't spoil it, but the cameo at the end of S7 was just wonderful.

But, yeah, Seven Fishes and the characters introduced... Fucking amazing cast.

Emmy for JLC as guest star or we riot. Odenkirk, Paulson, and Mulaney were fantastic as well.

It's one of the most bonkers single episode of any show I've ever watched. Maybe it's us kids that grew up in the 70's and "have seen some shit waaaaay too young" but that chaotic on steroids shit was super-triggering.

Oh, also want to add Gillian Jacobs to your list. And Oliva Colman in what I obliquely mentioned. The cameos are just incredible.
It's just really cool when something genre-altering shows up.

Just saw the the Justified reboot (spinoff?) is starting in a couple weeks. Just eight episodes for season 1 of City Primeval.

Here's a review from Consequence that gives a lot of detail, but I guess not really any spoilers.

I really liked Kristen on her season, but Padma is arguably my all-time celebrity crush, so I can't cheer for this. OTOH, I haven't seen the last 4 or 5 seasons, so I can't complain. Good reminder to go back and watch the seasons I missed.

We watched the first 15 or 16. Once went back to Season 1 and it was horrible in comparison. You didn't realize how much better the production became over the years. Billy Joel's child bride was pretty good in the host role, almost as easy to look at as Padma.

I’m a total mark for shows like Platonic and it took me 3 eps to accept Rose Byrne’s “real” accent but I got there.
