You, sir, are no Greg Maddux.

Two walks, a passed ball that crossed up the catcher, and bad mechanics (flying open early) in the first inning. Should've listened to Crosby.

ETA: Speaking of walkup music, with my Oscar Gamble 'fro in my prime, and avoiding the obvious Hendrix (Purple Haze), this would work just fine.

5IP (91-46) (hey, that's more than half) 3H 2R 1ER 7BB 4Ks and a 4-2 lead. Meet the new Tim; same as last year's Tim.

Y'know? After watching the Toronto BlueJays suck for two days against the powerhouse Cleveland Indians, yeah, I'm completely buying into how amazo they are suppose to be.

Only 160 more of this to go.

I would Rick-Roll the crowd with my walk-up music. Or maybe Kiss From a Rose. I've thought about this before and decided it may be one of the best parts of being a major leaguer.

Seth Petruzelli (guy that beat Kimbo) has gone into fights to Britney Spears (or something similar).

Absolutely. I'd probably change mine every game because the options are unlimited. "I Want Your Sex" always struck me as a really fun choice. Or anything with a bit of an intro that then explodes, where the fans who knew the song would get excited for the first loud beat, but make sure it cuts off just before.

Also, also, I think this was in an old swamp but its appropriate and worked out perfectly. PA guy started at just the right time and Johnson's reaction was perfect.

Valverde back with the Tigers on a minor league deal.

Closing by May 1?

In a related story, I just slammed my head against my desk several times. (Though at least Dombrowski hasn't mortgaged the farm system for a mediocre closer. Yet.)

I'm a few days late in my rant but in all the cherry-picked stats, Opening-day hitting streak is probably the stupidest/worst one.

Didn't ESPN.com once put HR distances in their scoring summaries? C'mon, I wanna know how big these dongs are!

You can check out their HR tracker. Don't have a link but it's pretty good.

Just saw the video of the HR Mark Reynolds hit in the 11th on Wednesday. It was at f-ing eye-level when he hit it.

If you put Nunez at 2B, the Yankees likely have the greatest DL IF ever.

Drew Smyly is going for that rare four-inning save.

And Smyly retires 12 straight against what used to be the New York Yankees to finish the save. Wonder how many four-inning saves there were in MLB last year.

Fun fact that makes me want to kill myself: When everyone is healthy and Mariano is on the mound, 7 of the 10 Yankees in the game will have received MVP votes in 2006.

(For the sake of my sadness, assume a lefty started so Wells is in LF over Gardner.)

Man, J Upton just keeps hitting the ball and jogging slowly around the bases. I see what Towers and Gibson were talking about now.

I didn't realize that Jack Morris was doing radio for the Blue Jays. How can they not win now?

Yep. It's his first season. Jerry Howarth calls the games and Jack Morris is the "other guy" in the booth; Alan Ashby had that job last year (he moved on to Houston). Coincidentally, both Ashby and Morris are Mormons.

If anyone cares Smyly's four inning save today was the first time that's ever been done against the Yankees. So yeah it's pretty rare.

Also I dumped $100 on video poker & got pissed so I bet $200 on the Dodgers at -$200 to beat the Pirates. In case anyone wants to sweat a stupid bet.

I watched it. Good game; had a bit of everything. If the Fox Tigers guys said anything about the uniqueness of the 4-inning save, I didn't hear it. Twelve up, twelve down from the 6th inning through the 9th is impressive no matter how you cut it. And it's always so much more enjoyable to watch a nice daytime, outdoor, ballgame than the Jays playing indoors on cement (as I now am).

See that guy in the stands who was wearing that antique Tigers usher's jacket? Suave.

I'd like some confirmation that that was against the Yankees.

Even "better" way of looking at this, give or take a miscount. Of the 30 on the 2006 AL MVP ballot, 12 play for other teams, 11 are out of baseball and 7 are on the 2013 Yankees. Youkilis isn't one of them because ... deep breath ... 2006 was only Youk's first full season in the bigs. Holy shit do I need good NHL playoffs this year.
