This was pure Bochy; fire up a squad gripping through injury trouble. And Bumgarner didn't hit him, just threw behind him. Nicely done. I don't approve personally, but I understand.
Will you understand when, in the cycle of ever-escalating 'retaliation', a brawl breaks out and you lose Posey for six weeks with a separated shoulder?

While I'm here I have a question for Red Sox fans: just saw they traded Ciriaco for a PTBNL last week. Are you OK with that? I get he's raw as hell but he can fly and it seems short-sighted given the rash of injuries that seems to follow the Red Sox infield.

I don't approve, and I would not have my pitchers throw at batters for bush behavior like that. For exactly the reason you state. You never know what will happen with escalation--pretty much my same view of warfare; only when there is a damn good reason threatening your well being. Not for 'honor'.

I understand his logic; I will admit taking a bit of glee from the thing. But I do not agree with the action. Doesn't mean I can't enjoy it anyway.

ETA: yeah, Ciriaco is fast as fuck. Looks like a nice player if he can hit.

Oof.
DFA him already (four runs today before getting an out in the ninth when getting an inning of work in a runaway game). Six HR and 11 ER in his last 7.1 innings.

Seriously, there is no reason to keep him on the roster and keep Rondon in AAA. With Rondon, you worry about walks. With Valverde, you worry about that fact that all his shit is hittable, including his splitter, which Chris Davis nearly got to the second deck in right today (and he's not the only one beating the shit out of it).

For fuck's sake, they sent down Avisail Garcia when Austin Jackson came off the DL because "he needs to play every day." He just spent three days on the major league roster after Sanchez got DL'd during which he got two at-bats, then remained glued to the fucking bench until after today's game, where he goes back down for a starter.

Just tired of the lack of logic here.

Nine straight wins and the Jays are at .500; didn't think I'd be saying that this season. Jays fans sure love Kawasaki. He hit his first MLB home run this evening and the place went nuts; he came out of the dugout and bowed three times to the crowd.

Timmay looking very sharp early. Five strikeouts through three; one walk, one hit, he hung a splitter to Logan Morrison who turned it into a souvenir. 2-1 gints over the marlins.

I have given very little thought to the Yasiel Puig. But, as of five minutes ago, I fucking hate his Dodger ass. Homered in his first AB against the jints. Fuck. Him.

Detroit has committed six errors tonight. That's impressive, especially considering the lead-footer nature of many of their infielders.

There was really no choice, everyone else can be sent down or has to clear waivers.

It's due to him being a 'tope for a bit. Really think that they just need to send the whole team down to ABQ for a few days.

Time for another installment of Giants fans' favorite guessing game, "which Tim do we get tonight?"

I just hope he doesn't groove a fastball to Puig. If the kid hits a hanging split, that I can more easily tolerate.

Vin is the damn best. I am gonna miss him.

So he was in the minors for, what, two days? After they had that huge emotional farewell for him?

Kinda figured they'd recall Anthony Gose.

Sure but Kawasaki is a journeyman who bats 9th. Gose is a can't miss prospect in center field. He's supposed to challenge Rasmus.

The Indians have scored 12 unanswered runs vs. the White Sox. It's in the top of the 5th and the game is already more than two hours long. And have I mentioned they're playing a doubleheader?

The score is 12-5.

Oh, and Jason Kipnis is very flammable.

ETA: In the top of the sixth, Kipnis has five plate appearances. He's doubled twice, has three walks, scored three runs, driven in two and has a stolen base.

He's no Miguel Cabrera. Two HRs, 3-for-3 and three RBI today.

EDIT: Make that 4-for-4, 2 HRs, 3 RBI and a double that was a frozen rope that hit the center field wall.

Prince Fielder just hit a ball harder and farther than I've ever seen at Tropicana Field (and granted I only see a handful of games a year there).

Hit the C ring catwalk and if it didn't it may have hit the top of the scoreboard in right.

One final note about the game is that I didn't realize Cabrera performance was semi-historic.

From Elias:

Miguel Cabrera went 4-for-4 with 2 HR, the 3rd time he's gone 4-for-4 with multiple homers this season. He's the 1st player in the Modern Era (since 1900) with 3 such games in a single season.
