Very cute, but not nearly twee enough to be a proper Wes Anderson spoof. Way too much modern architecture, outfits, etc.

The kid (George) became a fan base cult hero last season after being put on the jumbotron in the "cheer the home fan, boo the visiting fan" thing. He made appearances on it at multiple games and walked the red carpet at the NHL Awards last night.

Dubois is going to have to increase his production for it to be a good deal for the Kings, imho. Iafallo and Vilardi are a great return for the Jets, given that they had to make a deal.

Yeah, I like it for the Jets especially since they did it with a gun to their heads. I think they can probably do a deal for prospects and/or picks for Hellebuyck now.

The Devils just acquired Toffoli. They'll probably get Hellebuyck too since they also traded Blackwood to San Jose.

Hellebuyck for Curtis Lazar and a 2nd I’m sure.

Ha ha. I know Blackwood isn’t exactly Patrick Roy, but he can’t be worse than what the Sharks have, and he only cost a 6th, so I’ll take it.

Toffoli wanted 6 more years at 33. No thanks. We'll take the cheaper younger goalscorer in Sharangovich

I would be surprised if Sharangovich puts up numbers approaching Toffoli’s.

The flipside is that I wouldn't be totally shocked if Toffoli puts up numbers close to Sharangovich's. If that makes sense.

Toffoli has a pretty strong track record, at different teams. So, I'd expect him to bring the offense in Jersey, at least until age starts affecting him. Glad to have him out of the West, as he always seemed to do well against the Sharks.

Speaking of Jersey, I'm happy for Timo Meier. Not sure how that deal will look for them in a few years, though. After what the Sharks have been through, 8-year contracts scare the hell out of me.

After Panarin I'm wary about any huge contracts like that paid to wings that'll be into their 30s.

VGK trade Reilly Smith to Pittsburgh. Guessing this is to make cap room for Barbashev.

He doesn't have to be a straight equivalent.

With the market the way it is where Hall goes for nothing and Kevin Hayes goes for a 6th round pick, this return is actually quite good. Toffoli was not going to be a Flame after the next season and this was the time to trade him (or before season starts).

With Coronato coming in next year, and Flames in general wanting to give more opportunity to younger players, it was quite likely that Toffoli would have been on pace for around 40-50 points and would return less at the trade deadline. The only reason he got this many points is that he was the Flames go to guy, which can not happen next season - it needs to be Huberdeau. I loved Toffoli but he was just not the way Flames should be moving forward, another season of him would have changed nothing.

I loved that they got a guy like Sharangovich, this trade reminds me a bit of Fiala to Minny trade a couple years back. Flames can not trade all of their UFAs for picks, they have too many players signed for 6-8 more years, you need to trade for some young RFAs that have potential to become something more. There are too many good forwards on the Devils that pushed him out of the line up but that should not be an issue here.

I feel like something bad is going to happen tonight. Drury is going to solve the cap crunch by trading someone he shouldn’t because he’s made it so he can’t trade who he should.

Michkov and his delayed start seemed perfect for a team trying not to spend while also, presumably, trying to look competent.

Vegas still had their original 7th round pick which would have been the last pick in the draft but traded it to Columbus for their 2024 7th, which tells you all you need to know about Columbus’ faith in being able to attract UFAs.

Home team has won all 6 games so far. Bet on both major pro hockey trophies spending the year in the desert.
Game 7 will be streaming for free and on a few TV Stations. AHLTV (web), NHL Network, NBC Sports Washington and Root Sports Northwest, and can be heard on NHL Network Radio (SiriusXM 91).

and unfortunately as a Caps fan I agree. The firebirds have won their games big. Caps have had to grind out 1 goal wins.
Long Calder Cup runs are always good though. Vegas’ team at the time also went to Finals their second season like Seattle is now and Hague/Whitecloud got valuable experience. Also VGK saw Nic Roy playing for other team in final and decided they had to have him and he’s turned out to be a great fourth-line center.

VERY very true. The Bears, who always seem to be pretty good, made a really deep run around the time that guys like John Carlson and Karl Alzner were on the team. Playing hockey in late May and June helps those players understand what true pressure at the professional level is all about.
And, once again, Hershey Bears are in the AHL Eastern Conference Finals. Really cool to see a bunch of guys that played a fair amount of minutes for the Caps making another run at the Calder. On quick glance, Coachella still plugging away in the WC. Rematch??

The Bears have been good for a very long time. The team is run really well and have solid community support. There was an interesting article that their coach,Todd Nelson, was not getting any looks for NHL teams this off season. He must have stunk in his 51 games with the Oilers.
