Dubois is going to have to increase his production for it to be a good deal for the Kings, imho. Iafallo and Vilardi are a great return for the Jets, given that they had to make a deal.

Yeah, I like it for the Jets especially since they did it with a gun to their heads. I think they can probably do a deal for prospects and/or picks for Hellebuyck now.

The Devils just acquired Toffoli. They'll probably get Hellebuyck too since they also traded Blackwood to San Jose.

He doesn't have to be a straight equivalent.

With the market the way it is where Hall goes for nothing and Kevin Hayes goes for a 6th round pick, this return is actually quite good. Toffoli was not going to be a Flame after the next season and this was the time to trade him (or before season starts).

With Coronato coming in next year, and Flames in general wanting to give more opportunity to younger players, it was quite likely that Toffoli would have been on pace for around 40-50 points and would return less at the trade deadline. The only reason he got this many points is that he was the Flames go to guy, which can not happen next season - it needs to be Huberdeau. I loved Toffoli but he was just not the way Flames should be moving forward, another season of him would have changed nothing.

I loved that they got a guy like Sharangovich, this trade reminds me a bit of Fiala to Minny trade a couple years back. Flames can not trade all of their UFAs for picks, they have too many players signed for 6-8 more years, you need to trade for some young RFAs that have potential to become something more. There are too many good forwards on the Devils that pushed him out of the line up but that should not be an issue here.

and unfortunately as a Caps fan I agree. The firebirds have won their games big. Caps have had to grind out 1 goal wins.

Long Calder Cup runs are always good though. Vegas’ team at the time also went to Finals their second season like Seattle is now and Hague/Whitecloud got valuable experience. Also VGK saw Nic Roy playing for other team in final and decided they had to have him and he’s turned out to be a great fourth-line center.

VERY very true. The Bears, who always seem to be pretty good, made a really deep run around the time that guys like John Carlson and Karl Alzner were on the team. Playing hockey in late May and June helps those players understand what true pressure at the professional level is all about.

And, once again, Hershey Bears are in the AHL Eastern Conference Finals. Really cool to see a bunch of guys that played a fair amount of minutes for the Caps making another run at the Calder. On quick glance, Coachella still plugging away in the WC. Rematch??
