Yeh. I think finding people relies solely on Facebook presence now. Shit. Nevermind then, haven't been on Facebook in years.

Here's some Melvins...

New Radiohead...Moon Shaped Pool...came out yesterday. Listened to it a couple of times yesterday, and its very very good. Very atmospheric and sparse, but populated with lots of strings and piano parts.

And a fantastic new version of "True Love Waits"

They're making scores only these days, whether there's an actual movie or not. That being said, I liked it much more than King of Limbs.

I really like it. I think it's their best stuff since the 90s.

And I don't know if any of us will be alive to collect on it but I'll bet Thom Yorke in 35 years looks almost exactly like Willie Nelson does now.

Better than In Rainbows?

I wasn't a big In Rainbows fan though "All I Need" is one of my favorite all-time Radiohead songs. I think it's their best album since Amnesiac at least.

In Rainbows might be my favorite of theirs, with The Bends and OK Computer as a very close 1a and 1b. Kid A and Amnesiac are 2a and 2b for me. There's very little else of their catalog that I'm into.

Aside from five albums, I hate them! Geez, Chedda...you're hard on a band.

I remember Giff and some others? saying they like Elizabeth Cook. I'm a fan. She has a new album out and here is a great interview with her.Sounds like she's been through some shit lately.

( I liked the song. My post was not a comment on the cover, but a comment on everything else.) (I'm out)

My post was another quote from the song. I do kinda like telling someone to get out, but only if you get the joke/quote.

Oh, I know.

I could've sworn they did this tune on SNL (they didn't; memory fails me again.) In looking for the clip, I stumbled on this. "Hey, bro, need a balloon?!"

Not a fan of the drum machine, and he's trying to channel Dylan. Haven't listened to much War On Drugs since I was living with RSL, and perhaps fans think this is a great cover. As a Deadhead I am very very underwhelmed. I enjoy hearing their music in other styles, but this isn't one.

Much prefer this cover (which is actually a cover done by the Dead.)

Didn't know that was a cover, I thought it was a traditional folk song, author unknown, like Cold Rain and Snow or I Know You Rider. Bonnie Dobson, a Canadian folk singer.

Also, didn't know what it is about (but I never stopped to think about the lyrics.) She said it was inspired in part by the movie On The Beach. You didn't hear no baby cry today

Would love to see a Venn diagram of "Grateful Dead" fans and Bernie Bros, the latter of which almost certainly think HRC is a sellout. Meanwhile...<cash register ringing>

PT Barnum was not wrong.

Well this "bro" has been a Bernie supporter since before he first ran for national office. Most national politicians at the national level (and even state level for some) are sellouts in some form.

My experience may be colored by my being from from his "home" state and where I live now, but I'd say you're applyingyour views with a very broad brush. If you actually took off your blinders you'd actually find that Dead fans run throughout the political spectrum, Christ Anne Coulter is a professed Deadhead. Two of my closest friends are hard core conservatives and also Deadheads.

Also, it's probably better to apply the sucker label to the idiots supporting the guy that got nominated by the folks on the other side of the aisle.

Yeah, I post that as a War on Drugs fan who is familiar with that track as it was the only Dead video that I ever saw as a kid. I fucking love it.

I really like The Avett Brothers but really hate (like change the channel as quickly as possible if I stumble across Sirius/XM The Spectrum playing it one of the dozens a time a day that it seems that they must play it) their new song.

Just took the Sporcle quiz about bands of 1977. I've got to say that the popular songs and artists of my birth year are probably my least favorite era (yes, I know one year is not an era). There is so little on that quiz that is any good at all.

I really don't like The Avett Brothers and ... Jesus. I started in the middle and made it 10 seconds.

Could go in the reading thread, but I'll put here and say "Trouble Boys: The True Story of The Replacements" is the best rock biography I've ever read. Couldn't put it down.

I picked up the iPad, and Pandora had pushed out a notification that it had a Dad Rock station running this weekend. I figure why not, and the first two songs it played were Bette Davis Eyes and Alone (by Heart). Jeez.

Sigur Ros are streaming some new music set to a drive around Iceland's Ring Road (Route 1)

More about Route 1.

Probably should note that the truck is actually driving live. (Since it's the summer solstice, the sun will not set in Iceland today.) So the trip will take about 24 hours, but will be sunlight the entire time.

ETA: That might not be true. Getting some conflicting information. Either way. still cool as hell.

OK, pretty sure it's live. Icelanders in smaller towns on the route are coming out to wave at the truck/camera.

You see someone from out town once a year, you better wave!
