The Official 2016 Swamp NFL Mock Draft - HAULCITGO is on the clock

You know the drill. Pick a team, and pick a player for said team. Patriots fans need not apply. Swampers will have a day to make a pick. If they fail to do so, they'll be Viking'd. And just to make things easy and clean, no trading of draft picks. We can do the second round if this thing gets enough steam.

Here's the draft order and the Swamper picking for that team:

1. Los Angeles - Rams Fanny - Jared Goff, QB, Cal
2. Cleveland - Sabo - Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State
3. San Diego - AB - Jalen Ramsey, CB, Florida State
4. Dallas - Giff - Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State
5. Jacksonville - rass - Myles Jack, OLB, UCLA
6. Baltimore - bfj - Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss
7. San Francisco - Sancarlos - DeForest Buckner, DE, Oregon
8. Philadelphia (from Miami) - HaulCitgo - Vernon Hargreaves, CB, Florida
9. Tampa Bay - AB - Shaq Lawson, DE, Clemson
10. N.Y. Giants - Duff - Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame
11. Chicago - DSafetyGuy - Sheldon Rankins, DT, Louisville
12. New Orleans - Sabo - Leonard Floyd, OLB/DE, Georgia
13. Miami (from Philadelphia) - brontoburglar - Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio State
14. Oakland - Pruitt - Reggie Ragland, ILB, Alabama
15. Tennessee - tennbengal - Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss
16. Detroit - Brian - Robert Nkemdiche, DT, Ole Miss
17. Atlanta - Jerloma - Darron Lee, OLB, Ohio State
18. Indianapolis - duff - Jason Spriggs, OT, Indiana
19. Buffalo - Pruitt - Taylor Decker, OT, Ohio State
20. N.Y. Jets - Gunpowder - Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis
21. Washington - AB - A'Shawn Robinson, DE, Alabama
22. Houston - Giff - Corey Coleman, WR, Baylor
23. Minnesota - Sabo - Will Fuller, WR, Notre Dame
24. Cincinnati - tennbengal - Josh Doctson, WR, TCU
25. Pittsburgh - Jerloma - Andrew Billings, DT, Baylor
26. Seattle - blundercrush - VIKING'D - Germain Ifedi, OT, Texas A&M
27. Green Bay - Gunpowder - Vernon Butler, DT, Louisiana Tech
28. Kansas City - brontoburglar - Jarran Reed, DT, Alabama
29. Arizona - phxgators - Ryan Kelly, C, Alabama
30. Carolina - HaulCitgo - VIKING'D
31. Denver - sancarlos - Dak Prescott, QB, Mississippi St.

Thank you, and good luck.

Bump. Still need 20 more. If we can't get all 20 filled by the end of the week then I'll allow Swampers to double up on teams.

Bump. I also corrected the draft order to reflect today's Tennessee-Los Angeles trade.

We need more folks to pick teams, so please volunteer if you're interested.

Thanks.

AB, why don't you ask everybody to now pick an additional team to pick for. If you decide to have people double up, I'll take the 49ers.

Many thanks to my personal assistant, aka me, for his illustrious assistance while I caught fish and played bad golf.

I've assigned AB to the Chargers and the Buccaneers mostly so we can get this draft started. We still have other teams, so please sign up for a second team if you haven't already.

Falcons.

We're never gonna get this done by the draft.

Since the first 15 teams have GMs, we should just start today.

Thanks, bronto and HaulCitgo. Bronto, I gave you Miami as your second team. That means the first team that's still unclaimed is Detroit. If only we had a loud-mouthed Lions fan on this board to pick for their team ...

Oy. It's hard to tell if the choice the Rams have is Peyton Manning vs Ryan Leaf or Ryan Leaf vs Ryan Leaf. A quick look at the choices and why the Rams will choose as they will:
Jared Geoff: A tall QB who spent his years at a moderately big name school and appears NFL ready. He's got a strong arm but is not a good scrambler and developing 'happy feet'. So he's essentially Jim Everett.
Carson Wentz: A two-year starter who's used to working out of the Shotgun. A good pocket passer who's highly intelligent and can fit the ball in tight places. He was also injured his last year in school. So he's essentially Sam Bradford.
It comes down to Jim Everett vs Sam Bradford. Oy. Since the Rams are destined to repeat a mistake no matter what they do, they will go with the far more marketable California born and raised kid.

The Rams select Jared Geoff, QB, Cal

Well, look at this ... the Browns have a high draft pick. When you have this high of a draft pick - especially for an organization that has so much experience drafting this high - you can't really go wrong, can you?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The Browns have massive holes all over the place. They need a long-term QB, they need receivers, they need depth on the offensive line, they need an impact pass rusher, they need a run-stopping linebacker and they need a coverage cornerback to play opposite Joe Haden (who is hurt yet again). They also fired a bunch of scouts last month, reorganized the front office and will draft players based on an Excel spreadsheet. They also play in what is possibly the NFL's most physically tough division. What could possibly go wrong?

Let's take a look at the AFC North. Successful teams in this division know how to run the ball, control the clock and play tough defense. They need quarterbacks who are physically large, relatively smart and can take a beating. They need a Ben Roethlisberger-type QB, minus the raping. And they have such a QB available with the second pick.

The Browns select Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State University.

The Chargers fall into the three slot with their two best prospects available: Laremy Tunsill and Jalen Ramsey. With Eric Weddle gone, the secondary could benefit from the addition of Ramsey, but it's also not often that a potential Franchise Left Tackle is available to protect the end of Philip Rivers career and still be there for the start of the next QB regime.

However, the Chargers made big bets on the offensive line and are probably loathe to displace a guy making 28 million after one down year.

It's a tough call, but with Dunlap and his RT counterpart both with a fair amount of guaranteed money on the books, the Chargers hope that the line can improve from last year on its own with a new OC in Ken Wishenunt, the Chargers try to fill the hole that WEddle leaves and not risking too much dead money by selecting:

Jalen Ramsey, CB/S, Florida State.
