My dog loves meeting people and when she meets a “dog person” when we’re out on walks she’ll often camp out right between their feet. I think it’s so that they don’t even think about walking along until they first give her attention.

My cat (who is awesome) is absolutely going to cause me or wife to fall and break a hip someday because that fucker will walk between your legs like an asshole all the time.

I do t have a dog deal with it.

I’ve had cats and dogs (currently have one of each) and think they’re both awesome in very different ways, so no judgment from me. My cat was a semi-feral stray when we found him in 2015 and I tamed him by petting him while watching Saturday night SEC games that fall. He’s currently sitting on my lap and purring while I’m watching the Lakers game.

I’m a dog person but I like chill cats like that. If I weren’t allergic I’d have one I’m certain.

Now that you mention it, my childhood cat would constantly rub against our legs. I think that is rubbing the scent glands on you, marking you as belonging to them. He'd rub his cheek, then do a little hop to rub the side of his body against our legs, and he'd weave around out legs doing it. This was also his way of getting us to follow him to his food bowl, so he could show us there was a speck of the bottom of the bowl showing, then he'd give us a death stare until we filled his bowl. Then you'd get a another leg rubbing, and he was done with you. I think it's standard behavior for a cat, just never seen a dog do that.

ETA: and Tonya got adopted today. Shocked it took a week. We had 32 dogs last week, which is the most I've ever seen in one transport, but she was so damned cute and loveable!

We have three indoor cats, in addition to our dog. The cats are all from the same litter; we adopted them as a package deal. The four animals all generally tolerate each other just fine but the pecking order is hilarious.

One cat (female) is a bit smaller than the rest and stays in our bedroom. she defends her turf in the bedroom, but If she leaves, one of the other cats will chase her back to the bedroom. She is the skittish one. The other female cat is in the middle of the cat pecking order. Friendly like a dog, and she usually gets along with the big tomcat, but defers to him when he wants her spot. The tom is king of the cats and my buddy, but I think just to fuck with him and establish dominance, our dog occasionally chases him around (also does it occasionally to the middle cat.) So, the dog is at the top of the pecking order, except... for some reason she is scared to death of the cat that lives in our bedroom - the bottom rung cat. It's hilarious that the 50-pound dog won't come through our bedroom to get to our bathroom unless my wife or I escort her. (She likes to hang with my wife in there when my wife is showering, etc. and will wait in the hall for her escort through enemy territory.)

The cats are 13 now and have slowed down. They like to cuddle with you and be petted, purring up a storm, which never happened when they were young and more active.

We’ve decided after spending more time than normal with him over the holiday break that he’s going deaf. Need to call the vet and see if it’s related.

Not a dog issue, but... the joys of pet ownership.

My wife inherited a baby grand piano a few years ago. We keep the lid propped up because it keeps the cats from climbing on it and scratching the finish. Clearly not a perfect plan, because last night one of the cats got up inside the piano and puked on top of and through the piano strings.

Not an easy cleanup.

You can tell the competitiveness of the dog in this competition based directly on the pants and shoes of the dog's owner. Also I have seen these events before. Why did Westminster's version seem like the middle school rec league of dog agility.

I've got a spreadsheet somewhere with every dog breed on it and it has categories like "grooming needs", "energy level", etc for every one and then a little cell at the end for what the dog might be good at. So the bloodhound says "tracking", and the retriever says "Frisbee or flyball", and then you get to Border Collie and it says "who cares, this dog is smarter than you anyway".

Also, that's awesome that Winky's trainer did that. Takes a lot of guts to start somewhere and especially in front of a ton of people. Super cool that they had fun with it.

"oh now I'm on top of the pyramid, you like that don't you? Oh yea, clap it up for Winky! I'ma stand here and let you bask in my greatness ok sorry mom says I gotta go now..."

Bad it would have been a hell of a lot worse if not for my time with Izzy the Wonder Dog.

This made me smile...

I can elaborate on the shelter later, but I assume reason number one is that no one wants to go to Kokomo and you suckers fell for it.
