I know you're probably joking but he "drilled him" because of an uncalled high stick earlier in the game.

Pretty shitty go after a dude with a history of concussions, but TJ also needs to be more careful. I don't really understand what the refs were doing not calling that, frankly.

I'd normally agree about the concussion stuff but Oshie himself has played a "borderline" physical game (and Wilson twice targeted a concussion guy up high in G1 in Mika) and Panarin was central to all the bullshit back in 2021 (which NYR blew way out of proportion, both in "the letter" and the roster changes). He was clearly targeted again in G1, specifically by Oshie who is suddenly really tough? The high-stick and aftermath was probably part of it, but even if that doesn't happen I think Panarin takes that hit. And its another one I really don't like, refs deemed it clean* but hockey is going to be better when those types of hits just aren't allowed anymore.



* Another reason why hits should be reviewable off-ice in wide open manner. It might have been rulebook legal because of point of contact, but you could and should have given him atleast interference. Its arguable interference but ... its something and that's probably closest since its not a charge.

I agree with all that. You could tell what Carbury told the team and Oshie is nothing if not a team first guy, so he was flying around trying to wreak havoc. As you kind of alluded to, it's not really his deal and he was reckless.

But, still, that hit needs to get at least 2 minutes IMO.

(I also didn't agree with some of the first period calls, including the Charging on Rempe. That was really weak.)

For sure, and it sucks more that the league handcuffs them which forced the powerplay in the other direction.

The Dubois trade took LA from a team on the cusp to mediocrity. Prime example of a guy with all the tools but no toolbox. Kings gave up 4 players for him and extended him 8 years!

Yeah ... Vilardi looked like a solid get for Winnipeg at the time but I would have never imagined it would have turned in their favor in year 1 barring like a serious injury to PLD.
