Sorry but I gotta put this off until next week. I gave $20 to a bunch of guys from Buffalo to write more questions and I can't make out what they wrote.

$20 an hour to shovel in a hellacious blizzard - these guys are either really broke, or really can't stand being cooped up with their families.

There are some who view this as literally "being part of the team".

They are on the payroll. Of course they are part of the team now.

Looked it up, there are 3 in Greater Buffalo. The only reason I’ve ever heard was Nick Tahou’s garbage plate. Never been, but that was a thing in college.

Questions coming shortly but just A REMINDER THAT ALL PLAYERS, INCLUDING NON-PLAYOFF TEAMS AND THE TWO WITH A BYE should keep playing this week and through the end of the year.

SEASON-LONG REMINDERS

-Each week consists of 10 questions (5 sports, 5 not). The Swamper Bowl will have 20 questions.
-I'll post questions here and email them to the group. Make sure you DO NOT REPLY ALL if answering by email
-No Googling, No Doubt
-Answer every week, even when your NFL team has a bye

SCORING

-Correct answers get a score equal to the number of people who said it
-Wrong answers get the value of the highest-scoring correct answer +5
-If you're the only player with a one-pointer, you are credited with a score of -1
-Low score wins
-Weekly ties will be broken by best score in Q10, Q9, etc.
-Standings, tiebreakers and playoff matchups all determined exactly as they would be in the real NFL

INSTRUCTIONS

-Send answers to ryantfriedman (gmail, and don't forget the middle initial T) or private message here
-Unless you're giving something away by asking, bring up any questions or clarifications in the weekly thread so everyone can see the answer. I will NOT be emailing any important updates to questions that may affect answers, so it's on you to keep up before submitting

SCHEDULE

ANSWERS DUE FRIDAY JANUARY 27th @ 12PM ET

You'll notice the homefield advantages factored into the scoreboard up there. That's based on the difference in weekly scoring average divided by 2 and rounded up. If the lower-seeded team had a better average, no advantage is awarded. Not much in it for this round.

ETA: And the Bills-Titans is incorrect and should be the other way around. It'll be fixed going forward

WEEK NINETEEN QUESTIONS

1. NBA
Victor Wembanyama is leading the NBA this season in blocks per 48 minutes. Name one of the players pictured below, all of whom have had at least 8 games in a single season in which they blocked 5 or more shots in less than 30 minutes (9)

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zJIG0j ... rive_link

2. MUSIC
Name one of Rolling Stone's top 10 Canadian musical acts of all-time (10)
NOTE: List includes 2 groups. Number 11 is Gordon Lightfoot and Number 50 is Snow

3. BUSINESS
Name one of the top 10 EUROPEAN car manufactuers for sales in the US in 2022 (10)

4. NFL
I don't know how or when but Rick Mirer threw exactly 50 touchdowns in his NFL career. Name any top 5 pick since 1980 that is RETIRED and threw less than 50 (11)
NOTE: These are all full-time QBs

5. HISTORY
The Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography has been awarded annually since 2000. Name the event represented by any winning entry that happened in the United States (10)
NOTE: The award honors photos taken from the prior year, and there is a 1999 answer on the list. Just as a hint because I knew there are million possibilities, I'd categorize every correct answer here as "bad" or "tragic" and, to me, all but one is very gettable

6. SCIENCE
Name the creature most commonly cited as being represented by one of the following constellations (8)

Lupus
Monoceros
Taurus
Cetus
Aquila
Cygnus
Vulpecula
Corvus

7. MLB
Name an MLB player whose name (in the baseball-reference database) is Jim or starts with J-I-M with more career home runs than Jim Hickman's 159 (10)

8. GEOGRAPHY
For any US state beginning with the letter M, name the location of the main campus of its "University of M_____" (8)
NOTE: I don't believe there should be any argument about these, but I will take 2 answers for one specific entry on the list.

9. NHL
Name a team with a top ten ranked current PRIMARY logo in the NHL, per the users of sportslogos.net (10)
NOTE: The Penguins and Sabres are tied for 11th with a 6.8 out of 10

10. MOVIES
Adam Sandler ranks 32nd all-time in money made domestically by films in which he is credited with $2.87 billlion. Name anyone that ranks higher on the list WITHOUT yet appearing in any Marvel Cinematic Universe movies (12)
NOTE: As I would hope you can gather from the Adam Sandler number, this list is NOT inflation-adjusted

The question is right and the example makes no sense. Point is, don't say a non-quarterback

Just to be certain for Question 5 you're just looking for the general event and not the specific subject of the photo. Like it'd be fine to say "Godzilla attacking San Francisco" and not necessary to say "Mecha-Charles Barkley grabbing his junk over a fallen Godzilla after he dunked on him and got the foul over the Transamerica Pyramid".

That's correct other than to say that a small percentage of the answers are truly centered around a person or handful of people rather than being part of a larger deal.

NOTE: I had an answer come in for the movies question that, while I'm not adding it up manually, is probably right except that the source list says "in a leading role". I didn't put that in the original question, so anyone that hasn't already looked it up and wants to guess again is free to do so.

Anyone that answered more than 5 minutes ago had what I would consider a legit answer though.
