The Los Angeles Lakers Meltdown Thread

Post by Keg »

Kobe out indefinitely with a severely sprained ankle on a pretty shady play by the defender (swept under kobe on a fadeaway, resulting on Kobe landing on the defender's foot).

I had a grade III ankle sprain last January that would have kept me out of basketball games for at least a month and a half. It still hasn't healed completely.

Time for Metta World Peace to take over!

Here's hoping Dwight scores 40 points a game and the lakers go on a huge winning streak without beef.

Didn't someone from the San Antonio Spurs get called out on doing this kind of thing a few years ago?

Bruce Bowen. And if he ever took Kobe out, you wouldn't be seeing him on TV right now. Which would have been the ultimate win-win.

Hope it wasn't Bruce Bowen.

I met Bruce Bowen when he was with the Celtics at Jamiel's Shoe World in Warwick.

Somebody named "Jamiel" was able to acquire his own shoe store?

Nearly did a spit take, even without a drink in my mouth.

Lakers 10 point underdogs in Indiana tonight. Still not sure how they're going to score without Kobe.

He hasn't been ruled out of tonight's game, which means nothing other than you're a pussy

I could barely walk for about 5 days. That's kind of insane if he can do anything on that.

(though it's probably a lower grade sprain, Gronkowski was grade II and he needed surgery on it after limping through the Super Bowl)

My damn leg looked like it had a hoof.

Anyone else in Swampistan watching the Golden State Warriors -v- Lakers game? Geez, with the exception of Nash, the Lakers just have not shown up at all. Granted, Howard and I both love some Oakland basketball but, criminey, GunShotWound looks like a deep playoff team in this evening's affair.

Have it on while doing a fantasy draft. Gasol is great. Everyone else, not so much.

Lakers sign Kobe to a 2-year $48MM contract:

http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/stor ... les-lakers" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Kobe takes a pay cut (from what he makes this year - $30MM) but will still be the highest paid player in the league. I dont mind this deal as much as others do since we can sign another player to a max contract and the Lakers have always been willing to go over the salary cap and have never struggled to bring in talent.

I am also holding out hope that another one of these Kwame for Gasol type deals from a tanking team comes to fruition. The team is a lot better than what I thought they would be. It certainly helps that half the league is tanking...
