2013 NFL Week 8
Not that it really matters, but Rob Chudzinski announced this morning that Jason Campbell will start for the Browns this Sunday against Kansas City.
Campbell is now the 20th quarterback to start for the Browns since their return in 1999.*

I'm assuming you watched Campbell attempt to play football after Weeden went down v. the Ravens? it was truly awful.
I'm going to bet on the Chiefs right meow.

Nevermind, 7.5 is too much for Alex Smith to win by. I can see the Chiefs winning in a 5 point absolute massacre blowout. If it gets to 7 I'm taking it.

I'm assuming you didn't watch Weeden this past weekend against the Packers. It was truly awful. The only good pass he threw was the touchdown to Jordan Cameron. Most of his incompletions were passes where the receivers had little chance to get to the ball. I'm sure the rain was a factor, but Aaron Rodgers didn't seem to have any problems.Gunpowder wrote:I'm assuming you watched Campbell attempt to play football after Weeden went down v. the Ravens? it was truly awful.
WHY OH WHY DID YOU HAVE TO GET HURT, BRIAN HOYER?

I already told you the answer to that.

I actually didn't. But I'd still rather have Weeden than this version of Campbell. The last two games he's been in, he just absolutely could not move the ball anywhere (this year v. Baltimore and last year v. SF with Chicago, which was Freeman-esque).

Even scarier is that he apparently doesn't realize that the government is not still shut down.

Weeden is the new Rob Johnson, and believe me, that is not an insult I throw around lightly.
Campbell isn't good, but maybe with a few days preparation he could approach Hoyer levels.
(What a pathetic thing to have to hope for...)

Starting quarterbacks faced by the Kansas City Chiefs
Week 1: Blaine Gabbert
Week 2: Tony Romo
Week 3: Michael Vick
Week 4: Eli Manning
Week 5: Ryan Fitzpatrick
Week 6: Terrelle Pryor
Week 7: Case Keenum
Week 8: Jason Campbell
Week 9: Thaddeus Lewis
And then Peyton twice, RGIII, Phillip Rivers twice and another Terrelle Pryor sighting with Andrew Luck.
But yes, the Chiefs have had quite the run of QBs this year, especially lately.

Which ultimately fruitless action was more desperate?
Jeff Garcia asking the Browns to let him try out or the Rams calling Favre?

He won't. I think Campbell is absolutely 100% done as a viable NFL QB option for any stretch of time.
The problem with Hoyer the Destroyer levels is that they require competence.

I don't know if any of yinz get the Thursday edition of USA TODAY, but there's a codeword in the fantasy football section today that will allow you to enter this contest that has a weekly prize of $300.
http://usatoday.upickem.net/upickem/reg ... tid=106846" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(It's managed by my company.)
Last week a grand old total of 15 people entered. So you basically have a really good shot at winning some dough. So if you know what the code word is or can find someone who does, might want to take a crack at it.

I'm wondering how far Schiano will fall down the food chain for his next job. I'm starting to think even college defensive coordinator may be a step too high.

It's Eight O'Clock on a Thursday
The same meager Crowd Shuffles In
They'll be here for most of four quarters
When the misery's scheduled to end
They say "I hope we play worth a damn today"
It'd sure be a joy if we can
But there's really no shot
With these coaches we got
So we'll sit here and get drunk again
Win us a game, you're the Schiano Man
Win us a game tonight
We're all in the mood for a score or two
But this team it puts up no fight

Now Josh at QB, once that was fine
But he fell apart at the seams
He was quick to check down, quick with a frown
There was someplace that he'd rather be
He said Greg, this town just ain't for me
And we couldn't help but agree
His play was a joke, our dreams up in smoke
And now he hands it off to AP

Can we get Elton John to adapt the lyrics to Levon to plug in Le'Veon, then get a double bill featuring that song and Joel belting out Schiano Man? If so, I'm all in.Jerloma wrote:Would you guys trade Spiller for Bell straight up in fantasy right now?
I like how Bell has looked so far, but I'm not sure how that is going to play out FF-wise. Does Jackson (when he's healthy) end up eating up some of Spiller's TDs even when he's healthy?

He's so natural, isn't he? How long has it been since they've had a back with that kind of patience and vision?
Jackson is eating up about 65% of the running back touches for them right now.
