I've got the nipple tingles and as we approach game time, I expect the thickening. Courage! Dominate! Feral donkeys!

Interesting developments in the Ghanaian camp. Muntari was already suspended for 2 yellow cards, but Boatang is a great player. The players didn't receive their promised bonus pay, which may be the cause of this strife, but the President promised to fly a plane in with cash for the players. Were they worried their checks wouldn't clear? Who flies planes full of cash across the Atlantic to pay employees? Hopefully Ghana isn't up for the game, but not too out of it that they get blown out. Holy fuck I am nervous!

I believe that Ghana and Portugal can tie!
Not only that, but you're flying 3 million into fucking BRazil and telling everyone you're doing it.

Jeremy Schaap is reporting that the US team's friends and family aren't going to the stadium because of the conditions. I think I'd find a way to rent a boat if I was in that situation.

So fucking antsy now. But nothing but positive thoughts

horrible pitch conditions should benefit us, as Germany plays a passing/possession game and we have been playing more of a counter attack game. 0-0 draw?

Sounds like the pitch is fine, but that Recife has had nonstop rain for days, and the stadium is an hour out of town on a normal day.

Just stay alive, I will find you!

Got my kit on and getting ready to walk over to the stadium. I mean, courtroom.

Argh.

Although as nervous as these matches make me, it'll be good to have the distraction.

Cameron gets benched for Gonzalez. Davis in for Bedoya.

I like the set up. Jurgen's gotten it right in the first two games, I've got faith in his set up this time.

If you had to buy a US jersey right now, whose name would you put on the back? Based on this WC, I think I'd go with Jones 13.

yup Jones #13. That jersey lasts forever. Will be another Jones #13 in the next generation.

This has been a tough sports year for me, and, thus, I fully expect the raincloud to stay over my head.

"Hey, what happened to your Broncos in the Super Bowl? What a rout that game was."

"Hey, what happened to your Sharks against the Kings in the playoffs? How do you lose after being up 3-0?"

Vacationing with our friends starting this weekend. The father of that family is Dutch. I expect to hear:

"Hey, what happened to your U.S. men's team in the World Cup? It looked so good there, for awhile."

I agree with that based on performance, but I'd go with Zusi.

There's only two things I hate: people who are intolerant of other cultures, and the Dutch.

Nordic Messi. I love Mix's game. And that HAIR! Dempsey has been great, and the broken nose proves his bad-assedness. I kind of think it's a shame the US went up when they did, and brought in defensive players. I think Mix would have come in if it was tied, and he would have led the team to victory. Not joking there, he is a sparkplug.

Kind of surprised to see Davis instead of Bedoya. Bedoya looked good, especially defensively. Wonder if Jurgen wants some fresh legs. Kind of surprised to see Omar instead of Brooks. Despite the mistake, I expected to see Cameron. He is the only defender playing in a top league, and playing almost every game. Again, wonder if Jurgen just wanted fresh legs. Omar makes me nervous, but his height is an advantage in the air. Trying to counter Mertesacker?

I'd get Johannson, but I have a thing for Iceland anyway. But I think he's the striker of the future.

#13 is my number (iirc from the ancient era when I actually played sports with jerseys). Zusi has impressed me; Dempsey because he is the leader and the key man. But, as an old keeper, and with the truth of the statement made by the back of the shirt, tough for me to not go with this:

Howard #1. Can't beat that.

Muddy, ugly, plodding, slow, soaking wet game. 1-1 tie. Early USA goal on a mistake; late GDR penalty equalizer on a mistake in the box, followed by a professional desperation foul. That's my story.

They should, but it appears that Jurgen has set up the team to allow possession a la the Ghana game. Either that, or we really suck right now, or both.

I like Jones, I'd also consider Beasley and Dempsey cuz they are bosses.

Agreed on their bossness, but choosing Beasley is choosing someone who won't be here in 2 years, much less 4. Although, with jerseys changing every year, that doesn't really matter.

I am crawling out of my damned skin here. Some good moves going forward, but all the German possession and seeing them beating our defenders on runs into the box is killing me. Omar on a yellow is a little problematic, as he can't take chances any more.

Portugal 1-0 at the half is the best possible scenario. I believe that we will back in!

Yeah, I was just going to note that. Not best-case, but pretty good. Looking good for us, so far...

If our game ends 0-0, do the conspiracy theorists come out, saying the fix was in?
