My wife ordered the hoodie before it sold out and I got it this morning. Happy Sad Dad.

You can tell when I got a hoodie based on whether the strings are still in.

Just had an elderly woman read the front of my sweatshirt and tell me, "Awww, Sad Dads" and look at me with pity.

I thought I mentioned this here but search says I did not ... I accidentally wore mine to catch my oldest during her softball clinic this past weekend. One dad understood the reference but I felt the need to explain to everyone else that I am not, in fact, sad about playing sports with my daughter and its a band reference.

I hesitate nearly every time I put it on. Do I really want to explain the meaning of this to everyone? The logo on the back is so big too. It's really asking for people to comment.

Side note, an acquaintance posted a photo of his new puppy, Rylan, on FB earlier this week. I was probably comment #20 or so with, "He reminds me of everyone". Said new puppy owner replied, "I knew someone would get it!!!". Just checked and it looks like no one else has gotten it.

I wore it to the bar/restaurant where my kid works and where we're regulars and when we sat down they excitedly told me about the new beers they have and I said "dry January" and ordered a water. Sad Dad.

I kinda wish they didn't have the double logo, like do SAD DADS on the back and The National as an explained on the front or something. I don't know.

Rylan is a very good name and I have no idea if it was in consideration (for a boy) when we were expecting our first because of the band or as a total coincidence. Setlists say it wasn't debuted live until more than 2 months after she was born but its not impossible I'd heard some version of it 6 months earlier? I have no idea. I'm leaning coincidence because I think we'd debated Rylan vs Ryland. Ok, bye.

Would've definitely had an unimplied double meaning had we named our youngest that. And I thought wearing a Sad Dads hoodie took a lot of explaining.

Interesting that this and the amazon leak don't have Weird Goodbyes on the song list but the quick song sample on their site seems to have a similar drum track.

The rumored title is "Once Upon a Poolside" which has a certain sad dad worried that's meant to be a last album bookend title.

I hypothesized this in a band group and someone pointed out they're using that mannequin head everywhere and the first song off their self-titled debut is "Beautiful Head". Either we're onto something or I've become a complete freak.

In addition to this news, Superchunk released two songs and boygenius announced a full album coming. Quite a few hours.

MSG show is the night before I go on vacation for 2 weeks.

So the lack of Weird Goodbyes and the note in their email about that song getting a limited flexi-disc release "ahead of its future home" means...? EP?

Its weird for sure. I was wondering if it would get dropped because it didn't fit with their traditional drum sound but "Tropic Morning News" is the same production.

Maybe, although I don't really remember any EPs or singles from them ever.

Also, the Superchunk new music that I mentioned above was essentially two songs left over from the sessions from their most recent album that "just didn't fit" on it. Something similar from the Sad Dads?

The 4 song addendum to High Violet too. Overall they don't seem to have a lot of songs that were tried out live then abandoned before being put on an album.

Right? This on the heels of me deciding to road trip it to Atlanta for the Friday of Shaky Knees and her only worry is me being back in Fort Worth the next night in time for a friend’s birthday party. I’m a lucky dude.
