Re: A non-majors Golf Thread for 2023 and beyond
I'm also calling bullshit on this being some "cuh-RAZY" situation because someone got run over. Not trying to be a total prick, but cops deal with accidents and death fairly regularly. This guy was directing traffic. He wasn't in the middle of an active shooter situation. Just kind of anno...
Re: MLB 2024
I should modify that to say worst call in a completely context free situation. Like, not calling an easy bang-bang play an out in a World Series or when a perfect game is on the line is a lot "worse."
But from a straight-up, objective WTF stand point? Woof.

That's gotta be one of the worst calls in MLB history.

The biggest thing with haggling is leverage. They fuck with you by keeping you there for hours because they are asserting dominance over you with all the "let me go talk to my manager" bullshit. Don't give them leverage. The last 2 cars we have purchased: one was a Rav4 from a CarMax... ze...

Maybe we're not seeing the total thing, but what I saw was so far from what was in the report (cop dragged, ruined his pants, etc etc)... It's really baffling the DA hasn't dropped the felony charges. What a fucking clown shop.

Yeah, I hate that song too. Otherwise, I can take or leave Seger. Never did anything for me. But that song has always pissed me off. And of course, "Like a Rock" was also forever ruined by those truck commercials. I do like "Hollywood Nights" and "Turn the Page" though...

I freely admit to being a lifelong Seger fan. There's the Ann Arbor/Detroit/MI connection on top of being one of the first albums (my mom's) I listened to as a kid.
I fucking hate that song.

Re: Doc: The Umentary Type
Wasn't The Outsiders kinda officially the start of that? Well, kinda... The connection with Penn, Cruise and Hutton was sparked with Taps (81). Then got further extended by The Outsiders (83) Which brings in other fringe Brat Packers like Ralph Macchio, C Thomas Howell and Matt Dillon... joining Cr...

I don't remember Cage being part of that scene at all. Didn't his career come a bit later? Cruise was definitely the right age and in some of the same movies, even if he wasn't part of the tight friend group. He's in the original article, but as I said, I found it really weird and almost jarring th...

It's more the whole "white ppl fucking with a perfectly good (insert traditional southern/black dish)" This is somewhat of a staple for stand-up comedians from multiple perspectives. It's an exaggeration for comedic effect, as I'm getting up in years, have eaten all over the country, and I...

On the nerd D3 soccer board I visit, there is a decent amount of chatter about various schools closing... And the pace is only going to pick up in the next 5 years. A lot of these places never really recovered from COVID (they didn't have a big old endowment to lean on) and there was already talk of...

I'm giddy for this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxVNQkRM5Qw Brat Pack doc, produced by Andrew McCarthy, which means he was able to interview just about all of them. My junior year of HS I had the best teacher I've ever had for World Studies. He would make us pull out a blank piece of paper and you had to draw the continent we were focused on at the time. Just an incredible way to learn and remember regions and their borders.

For work and actually anytime I'm wearing long pants, I'm sporting my Mack Weldon socks that come up above my calves. I actually hate the feeling of dress socks spooled down at my ankles, so I'm pretty particular about it. When I'm in shorts, I'm wearing those socks that barely come out of the shoe....

Related, I think: Why is Miles Robinson still in MLS? Choice? Skillset? Sure am glad he is as an FC Cincinnati fan. He's been absolutely excellent as a part of a really good backline. I think my issue is that I'm a geography person so I have a really difficult time with people that just have no interest in understanding, like... where the fuck they are at any given moment.
Not being able to identify the country you are in is just incredible to me.

Agree on Weston... Didn't like it when Juve did it, would prefer GGG not do it. Just saying it's an option in a pinch. I'm really curious to see a lineup with Pulisic and Wright bombing the flanks with Gio playing a 10 role. Let Balogun or Sargent post up in the middle. That's a nice little attackin...
