Best way to get one? Worst way to get one?

That's not fair. I gave you two.
Who knows? Maybe, you were kidnapped, tied up, taken away and held for ransom.

I own about 20 through godaddy and the customer service is excellent when I rarely need it.

Lifehacker did a top 5 recently and likes namecheap.

GoDaddy pretty much set my law firm back a year and cost me tens of thousands. Had a domain for my solo shop mynamelaw.com. Called some idiot named Jessie Sanchez who had the bright idea of combining my two domain accounts when I called to pay a bill and we couldn't pull up the account. Well when she/he did that, she/he reverted the email notice address back to my wife maiden name email address at a Comcast account we haven't had for years. So two years later some guy has my domain and I haven't received emails from my clients (hundreds) since about March. Complained and godaddy told me to go fuck myself. Don't use go daddy.

I use directnic.com
I've had no problems or issues.

I use http://ricochetnetwork.com/.

Pretty straight-forward and no-hassle. Probably not much different than other ones. (I designed their logo a few years back, though, so I hang my hat on that.)
