Gunpowder's Gold Star Trivia

Post by Gunpowder »

Sorry wlu, but that calendar is awful. Everybody who isn't a terrorist loves triv and so I'm going to see if I can come up with a better daily question. Winner gets a GOLD FUCKING STAR (stars are fiat and not backed by actual gold). Gold fucking stars can be traded for goods and services such as PBRs and frotting.

FIRST Q: Who became the first sophomore to declare for the NFL draft?

99% positive it isn't Johnny football. Aldon Smith did it at Missouri I believe, but no idea if he was the first, but he is my guess.
Hold on, I'm trying to see if Jack London ever gets this fire built or not.

Didn't a D-lineman get drafted by the Cardinals with no college experience? I know you need to be 3 years removed from high school, but I recall someone doing this somehow.

I'll throw out a guess of Maurice Clarrett. Is he in the Hall of Fame yet? Can't miss prospect.

Clarrett is who I was thinking of, but he wasn't eligible yet and had to sue. He lost, I think.

Clarett and Mike Williams won their lawsuit and then lost on appeal. And then the NCAA dictators didn't give them an exception, putting them in limbo for a year. I think the NCAA should have reinstated them, but apparently they don't really give too much of a shit about their athletes.

Anyway, it wasn't Clarett.

Asked some other people, and one said Bernie Kosar, which looks damn correct. However, he went in the supplemental draft that they created for him.

So - it's not Bernie Kosar. First to declare for the real NFL draft in April.

No hints. No Googlin'. Proper thing.

(And I have no idea what the answer is. I would have incorrectly guessed something crazy like Kellen Winslow or Lee Roy Selmon or Chuck Muncie)

Weirdly, this one is very difficult to Google. I tried to confirm my answer and couldn't get a result without inserting his name in the search (which is why I missed Kosar).

Yes. For sure. I'd love to put that together or participate. Absolutely. Just need three contestants and a spare to commit time (couple of hours). I'll try to come up with a fabulous prize.
