2021 IIHF

Post by wlu_lax6 »

F' the Stanley Cup....let's focus on the big tourney (because the caps are out)
USA (with lots of Rangers) beat up on Canada today.
Ovi too injured to go to Latvia for Mother Russia (So he really must be beat up..because he is Putin's guy). Orlov and Samsonov are making the trip. As is Tarasenko.

Canada would be facing relegation, if there was relegation this year.

Also, Reto Berra, formerly in the NHL, got a FOUR save shutout against Denmark.

Caps say nyet to Samsonov playing. He has 2 weeks of rehab work with the team. So they don't want him getting games? Feel a bit like we don't trust you after last year's atv back injury and this years covid problems.

Yeah, that feels like (deserved) punishment for basically putting the team in a shitty position for large chunks of the calendar year.

US wins group B with 6 wins (in 7 games). Not too shabby. Canada seems to have recovered after a slow start. I think they play cross group in the quarters, but not entirely sure. If so Quarters on Thursday with US against Slovokia. They re-seed for semis.

Going to be Canada vs the US in the semifinals.

Canada with a sick goal from Mangiapane to beat the dirty Rooskies.

Canada-US puck drop now. Finland-Germany the other semi. Interesting that all 4 semi-finalists came out of the same group.

In one of the worst Flames seasons ever as a team. Mangiapane had a great year and it's carrying over to the world's. Canada was 0-3 when he got there. He's now tied for the 'Golden boot' with 7 goals.
