Ever think about how dumb it is that some words like dumb have a silent "b" at the end, and then start picturing other similar words and how they'd look with it?

I'm about to be the age my Dad (step-dad technically) was when he met my Mom.

(She had me at 29. He was 6 years older. And they met when I was 4 or 5.)

Dire Straits' "Romeo and Juliet" was my 1980s girlfriend's favorite song.

That's been one of my favorites for decades.

It might also be the most meta song ever.

It's a song
About a song
From a movie
Adapted from a musical
Adapted from a play.

(For the various cover versions, you can add another meta-layer.)
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Confession time: I've only known that as an Indigo Girls song. Girls played the fuck out of it when I lived in the dorms.

Amazing song from an amazing album. I like this version with Emmylou Harris.

But some that comes down the countries being so easy, like Australia yesterday.

Major payoffs like car and student loans are such milestones. I bet that's how the older MFers and maybe some midwesterners here felt about mortgages.

I like this game, but it's ruined by all the territorial islands off Antarctica that I've never heard of. They should limit it to countries.

Anyone play Weddle? My son showed me this a couple days ago. You guess an NFL player (skill positions only), and it tells you if you have the right conference, division, position and tells you if the mystery player is taller or shorter, younger or older, and if their number is higher or lower.

Sounds like a (possible) knock-off of Poeltl, the NBA one that does the same stuff but has been around a couple weeks.
