Re: EPL 2023-24
One of the guys on the Guardian Football Weekly podcast today called Everton the "turd that won't flush"...
Re: EPL 2023-24
The Tractor Boys will be a PL team next term
Re: EPL 2023-24
I grew up in a rural agricultural area, and we had a little motel called The Ipswich Inn, so I’m thinking maybe i should be a supporter of The Tractor Boys.

Re: EPL 2023-24
Kinda wish there were an additional 10 EPL games this year. It seems like the Chelsea kids are really starting to figure things out. What's kind of wild is that Poch recently made an interesting formation change where Cucarella moves inside when Chelsea has the ball. That seems to have really strengthened their central midfielder play. It probably also helps that Enzo is out getting surgery because he just hadn't been good enough for the last month or so.
Whatever the reasons, they sure looked good today against the Hammers.

Totally Kafkaesque
Re: EPL 2023-24
And now with Crystal Palace beating Man U (keep going, lads!), Chelsea might just earn some European football next season. Wild to think that after the topsy turvy season they've had, but it's there for the taking with 3 games to play.
Totally Kafkaesque

Does Ten Hag get fired in the dressing room, the parking lot, or do they wait until the end of the season?

The injuries are bad, and Palace have been better of late, but all of that said, EtH should have to find his own way back up the M6.DaveInSeattle wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 3:52 pm Does Ten Hag get fired in the dressing room, the parking lot, or do they wait until the end of the season?

And, a clean sheet for Dean Henderson, MU’s former goalkeeper-in-waiting, who transferred to Palace after they signed Onana.

Re: EPL 2023-24
Every team has injuries at this point in the season...and Casemiro runs like he's carrying a piano on his back...but this is ManU! Losing 4-0 at Crystal Palace has got to be embarrassing.govmentchedda wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 4:15 pmThe injuries are bad, and Palace have been better of late, but all of that said, EtH should have to find his own way back up the M6.DaveInSeattle wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 3:52 pm Does Ten Hag get fired in the dressing room, the parking lot, or do they wait until the end of the season?

United has been ravaged by injuries over the last few seasons -- something that makes the issues feel systemic more than being on the wrong side of the random chance injury coin

Re: EPL 2023-24
So keep ETH? There have been a lot of injuries, but the systemic issues seem to be their recruitment (especially under ETH) outside of Holland, and their failure to acquire solid players to cover for those missed games. Once they signed Jonny Evans, I was hoping for a Vidic and Ferdinand return! Plus, isn’t a McGuire absence from the team addition by subtraction?Brontoburglar wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 9:44 pm United has been ravaged by injuries over the last few seasons -- something that makes the issues feel systemic more than being on the wrong side of the random chance injury coin

Re: EPL 2023-24
So its Man City v ManUnited in the FA Cup final, right? And if City wins then that opens up 6th place finish in EPL for the Europa league? Which would leave Chelsea just 2 points off 6th with 3 left to play?

I think Burnley would have survived this year if their keeper wasn’t such a disaster
Re: EPL 2023-24
I take it you can't just declare bankruptcy and take the 9 point deduction with one game left? Asking for a friend.
Re: EPL 2023-24
It was so great to see Reece James get on the field again for Chelsea. And then within a couple of minutes, he made a gorgeous game-winning assist. Couldn't ask for more.

Comes down to Arsenal’s rival needing a result again City basically. Sports never fail to be compelling.

Re: EPL 2023-24
The fact that Spurs is sitting in 5th right now but close enough to 4th that they can still mathematically catch Aston Villa is welcome. They won’t lay down just to bone their rivals.

Arsenal saved the embarrassment of blowing it all against Everton on Sunday
Re: EPL 2023-24
Can you parlay a 1st half 0-0 with a City win? Because recent history says that's what's going to happen against The West Hammers.
